Hello readers! I have so many books. I own around 400 books at this point, which is crazy.
My books are all over the place. I only have two bookshelves for all these books. Many of them are just on the floor or in my closet. I’m going to have to put the majority of them in the garage to make room for the baby. I’m now 22 weeks along and ready to start cleaning up and organizing things.
So, I thought I’d make it a little fun and do this book Unhaul Challenge. This challenge was created by Books and Lala on YouTube, but her video is has been private for a while now. It’s just a fun challenge to help unhaul books a bit more brutally.
A book you rated low
Little Bee was a book I bought because I read another book by the author that I really loved. I’ve read Incendiary by this author twice and loved it.
When I read Little Bee, I thought it was okay. I gave it 3 stars, which isn’t a bad rating, but I don’t think I need to keep a 3-star book in my collection. I will most likely pick up something by Cleave down the line. And I hope it is more like Incendiary than this one.
I absolutely love the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. It’s one of my all-time favorites. The Night Huntress series is a vampire romance series about a half-vampire woman who hunts vampires.
There are four related series: Night Huntress, which is the main one, Night Huntress World, Night Prince, and Night Rebel.
I’ve read so many books in that series and related ones. Eternal Kiss of Darkness is the second book in the Night Huntress World series. I honestly own random books by this author in the hopes of collecting them all at some point.
Both books in this duology follow side characters, and I honestly didn’t like this one. I don’t own book one, but I did like that one much more. I just thought to myself, I don’t need to own every book, including ones I don’t even like. That is a little silly.
A book you changed your mind about
Cake Eater is a YA dystopian novel that retells the story of Marie Antoinette. The longer I own this book, the less I want to read it. I don’t know what it is, but I lost interest over time.
It was on my December Read it or Unhaul it Challenge. In that post, I went over 10 books I’ve owned for a long time and want to unhaul if I don’t get to them in 2026. I’m already ready to get rid of a lot of them. I would say more than half are going to be on this post today.
There’s Someone Inside Your House is one I just don’t think I’ll get around to any day soon. Also, I’ve only heard bad things about it.
On top of the bad reviews I’ve heard, I have a very hit-or-miss relationship with YA thrillers. I really dislike most of the ones I read. I really only want to read ones that I am really invested in trying, and this one just isn’t it.
This one was also on the Read it or Unhaul it Challenge post as well, so I might as well rip the band-aid off.
A series you won’t be completing
I’ve been thinking a lot in the past month about the Throne of Glass series. I read Assassin’s Blade and really loved it. I’ve also read Throne of Glass twice.
I don’t think I like this series enough to commit to the whole series. I am behind on her other two series, which I enjoyed 10x more than this one.
A book you DNF’d
The Fury is one I’ve tried to read a few times and just can’t get into. After reading The Silent Patient, I was looking forward to what this author had in store for the future.
Then I read The Maidens and really disliked it. Celadon sent me a copy of The Fury last year, and I don’t see myself reading it anytime soon. This one actually has worse ratings than The Maidens, so I don’t see myself enjoying it even if I do read it.
A book you own multiple copies of
I honestly don’t have one for this. I am really not the type of reader who buys multiple copies of books often, and when I do, it’s only when a book is a favorite.
A book you’ll never actually get to
Clockwork Angel is a book I somehow managed to own physically twice, and I have the audiobook on Audible.
Because I have it on audio, I will just listen to it there if it ever shoots to the top of my TBR.
A book you bought because of the hype
I don’t have one for this either. I usually try to read books before I buy them when it comes to hype because I’ve been burned too many times.
A book you bought because of the cover
I don’t buy books based on the cover, but I do buy them based on a title. The F It List follows a teen girl who does her best friend’s bucket list with her because her best friend has cancer. She may have done the list without her. I honestly read this book 10 years ago, so I’m not sure.
Looking back, I remember enjoying it. But I gave it 3 stars, and it hasn’t really had a lasting impression on me. I’d rather unhaul it and let someone else find it.
A book you don’t know anything about
I do know a little bit about this one. I know it is a portal fantasy about a secret underground London. Not much else at all.
I don’t think I’ll get around to reading this one any time soon. I bought it at the bookstore because it was 4 dollars. I might just pass it on to my stepdaughter and see if she’d want to try it.
A book you didn’t buy
Love and Other Conspiracies is a romance book about two people who bond over loving cryptids.
These days, I am not reading a ton of romance, and when I do, I only read ones I really think I’ll enjoy. I don’t know if I will like this one or not, so it makes me hesitant to try it.
I’ve had it for two years now and honestly forget I even have it most of the time. I’d rather focus my time on other romance books I have before this one.
Other Unhauls
Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl is a YA book following a teen named Greg who makes a movie with his friend Earl for one of his childhood friends who is dying of cancer.
I read this one back in 2015 and really enjoyed it. However, I was going over all the books I own today and I don’t really have an attatchment to it anymore.
I don’t think I should keep books just to have them or because I liked them in the past. It’s taking up space in my room and it really doesn’t need to.
Fangirl is one I’ve been holding onto for a long time. I used to own three books by this author, and I’ve slowly gotten rid of them.
I’ve never been able to pick up another book by this author since Fangirl because I didn’t like her response to the backlash about Eleanor and Park.
I don’t think I’d reread this one or buy anything else by her, so I might as well part ways with it now. I’d rather just have books that I love owning.
