All the Books I’m Currently Reading

Hello readers! I’ve been wanting to make this post for a while now exposing myself for ALL the books I accidently never finished.

This is a list of every book I am in the middle of, would like to finish, but just never did. MOST of these books are ones I OWN. I really have no excuse NOT to read them if I own a copy!

Before we go any further, I want to disclaim there are affiliate links and ads within my posts. When you use my links, you will be supporting my content and I will make a small commission. I also have a Ko-Fi, linked at the bottom, if you would like to support me in that way.

Will I ever finish this book? I don’t think so…

Twenties Girl is about Lara, who visits her great aunts (whom she never met) funeral. She sees the ghost of her great aunt and is tasked to postpone burying her until Lara can find her stolen necklace.

I have attempted to read this book physically AND through audio and finally unhauled the book from my collection. I think I wanted to finish it because I LOVE Sophie Kinsella’s books, but this one is just not for me. A small part of me still want to finish it one day, so I can say I did!

I was trying this challenge this year where I try to read a book by or about every president IN ORDER. I didn’t plan to read one about EVERY president in this year, but wanted to make a head start. Ron Chernow’s Washington: A Life is a 900 pages book and I thought that would be no big deal. I LOVE big books.

HOWEVER, this book is DENSE. It really gives you every detail, some if which I would rather NOT KNOW. I still want to read it and NEED to start having myself read 10-20 pages a day until I finish it.

I was hoping to get the Six of Crows duology read before the show came out and I didn’t manage to do so. I just didn’t enjoy the way the story was told. I thought we were getting a ton of information that didn’t matter and it made me want to put it down.

I do still hope to finish this series at some point because I do own it and I want to read it before watching the show. I don’t know how much of this series will be integrated into it and I don’t wanna be spoiled.

Legendborn is sort of a retelling of the Knights of the Round Table. Each person who is Legendborn is a direct relative of one if the knights and has different powers based on who they are related to.

I was enjoying Legendborn until I hit that part (about 100 pages in) with the HUGE infodump. I usually don’t mind a big infodump, but this one had me overwhelmed with information.

I want to go back before the infodump and reread the whole thing because I was LOST. I genuinely think I would LOVE this book once I actually get to it. This is another one that I do own, so no excuse not to read it ASAP!

I don’t remember how much of this book I made it through, but I remember it being about someone’s sister who wanted to join the Hitler youth during WWII. I’m sure there is a LOT more to it than just that. I was enjoying it, but I must’ve just picked another book up and never went back to it.

I still think I would enjoy this book and hope to get myself a copy before I do.

I think I listened to about half of this audiobook.

Clean Getaway is about a boy named Scoob who goes on an unplanned road trip with his grandma. This story is really about racism and segregation. His gradmother is white and she talks about what it was like having a biracial son, I assume in the 70s? And all the racism her son (his dad) faced.

It was a really good story, I just never finished it! I loved that he calls his grandma G-ma because I always used to have my grandma in my phone as gma! It seems like a silly thinkg to like about a book.

I was really excited to read Filth because I’ve seen the movie and I really LOVE it. I saw Filth, the movie, because I LOVE James McAvoy.

It is about this detective named Bruce, who wants to be promoted as detective inspector and will do anything to get that positition. Bruce is the definition of an unlikable character. He is horrible, racism, sexist, homophobic, disgusting, you name it.

It isn’t my dislike of Bruce that made me stop reading, it’s the transliteration. This means the words are written how they sound and NOT how they are spelled. Think Hagrid from Harry Potter! Everything he says is spelled in a weird way because of his accent. I assume if you are scottish, this book would be SUPER easy to get through, but I can’t understand anything it says. I’m going to try to somehow get an audiobook of this one. I’m sure I could understand what it was saying if it was being spoken.

  1. I enjoyed Six of Crows when I read it last year, so hopefully when you pick it up you do enjoy it! I also started Legendborn, but had to put it down because I wasn’t in a fantasy mood and was scared it would impact my opinion
