Hello readers! It’s my 6th Blogiversary today. So much of my life has changed since I started this blog. Heck, a ton has changed even since my last Blogiversary.
If you are interested in seeing it, here is my 1st Blogiversary post. I learned so much in my first year of blogging that I wish I knew when I started.
This has become one of my favorite things to do over the years. Even during the time that I’ve been in a huge reading slump, I’ve still been showing up here and posting.

What anniversary are you celebrating?
This is my 6th anniversary! I started my blog on August 26th, 2020. I really wish I started way earlier. To be honest, I wasn’t the best writer then. Not that I’m exceptional now.
But I was the person who didn’t graduate high school. I didn’t get good grades in school at all. I struggled all the time in school. When I was 22, I finally got my GED, and I started college at 24 for the first time.
I am now 32 with 6 years of blogging behind me. I’m one way away from my bachelor’s degree. And I feel so much more confident in where I’m at. I used to sit here and read, reread, and reread my posts more. I was afraid of even posting a tiny typo. And I learned it isn’t that serious.
What genre or genres do you usually focus on?
I usually have my reading stats down to subgenres, but I also have this multi-year stats document with more general genres. I would say I read pretty broadly across genres, and I really love being that way. I find it boring to read the same genre over and over again.
Fantasy has been consistently my most common genre. It’s interesting to see how it changed from before my blog to after! Romance and mystery/thriller have jumped while contemporary and classics dropped.
What are you most proud of on your blog in the last year?
I have to say my problematic authors posts. I’ve only done two so far, and I’m working on the third one. They are a lot of work, from the reading and writing, but I really love making them either way.
Do you receive ARCs to review?
I do. I haven’t been asking for them in the past two years because I know I won’t read them. I need to get fully out of this slump before I start getting ARCs again.
What types of posts do you most like to do on your blog?
I love doing discussion posts and fun tags. I’ve done so many now that it’s hard to find ones I haven’t done, though.
What types of posts do you read on other people’s blogs?
I love reading discussion posts more than anything. I prefer watching and reading content where people give their opinions on things. I read and watch plenty of people who don’t have anywhere near the same reading taste as I do because I love hearing them talk about what they thought on a book or topic.
Was there anything you tried on your platform in the last year that didn’t work?
I wouldn’t say I have tried anything that didn’t work in the last year. A few years back, I would try to do weekly new release posts. It was way too much work for me.
I started out doing it in my Sunday Posts, then moved it to its own posts. It would take me multiple days to write the posts, so I stopped doing them.
Is there anything you tried last year that you won’t do this year?
I would say posting a lot. Last year, I was posting sometimes 18 times in a month, which I haven’t done in 2026. I would love to get on a schedule, but I don’t want to go back to that level of posting.
Is there anything you plan to do more of this year?
I really want to get that next problematic author post done and posted. I would love to be able to do even more of them in 2027, but we will see what I have time for with my last year of college and the baby.
Is there anything you plan to add to your blog next year?
I would love to! I’ll have to see how much time I have with my last year of college and the baby. But I have considered other series, for instance, reading nostalgic books from the 90’s or 2000’s.
I also thought about doing some posts about picture books. I know my regular audience might not find it that useful, but some others might. For instance, I found some really cool Muppets books at a used bookstore recently. I didn’t even know Muppets Kids existed! But they did in the 90’s.
What are some of the challenges you face on your blog?
The biggest challenge I’ve had recently is not knowing what to post. These past two months have been challenging for me when it comes to post ideas. It’s honestly something I’ve never experienced before. Even through the past two and a half years of not reading much, I have never run out of post ideas.
What is the best piece of advice you could give to a fellow blogger?
Don’t hesitate to start! You don’t have to post consistently or read certain books. Especially with written blogs. I really pressured myself a lot in the beginning for no reason at all.
I would also say, take breaks! If you are burnt out, don’t be afraid to stop and come back later on.
What is the best part of having a book blog?
There are so many great things about being a blogger. The reason I started one is to share my thoughts with other people. Community is so important for me because I don’t have reader friends or family IRL.
