Hello readers! Today’s post is all about my reading stats. These are some of my favorite posts to write and go back and read later on.
Oddly enough, my most-viewed post in 2026 has been a stats post. I’ve received over 500 views on my 2021 year in review & stats. It felt a little random, but I’m happy to see the post doing so well.
I read 5,783 pages across 28 books in the first half of the year! This puts me at a 209.75 page average. At this point last year, I had read fewer books but more pages. This is because I have mainly been reading graphic novels in 2026.
I am now at 75% print, which has to be the highest in almost 10 years. The majority of my reading in the last 5 or more years has been audiobooks.
This time last year, the majority were print as well, but this is my highest so far.
My biggest age group is middle grade for the second year in a row. I have just found this age group to be the only thing that sticks these days.
I also read children’s books this year because of my Dr. Seuss post. I hope this one continues to grow once my baby is born!
This year has been very different, with the majority of my books being by male authors. I haven’t read a single non-binary author.
I believe this is because I’ve been reading Amulet, and my Dr. Seuss and Roald Dahl posts. I knew doing these problematic authors posts would change my stats a lot, but I was having a lot of fun doing them. I just got the first book for the next one at the library, and I’m super excited to read it.
I have been going to the library a lot more in 2026, so that is my biggest chunk.
Last year, my biggest chunk of the pie was owned books. I did really well last year at both reading my owned books and reading the books I was buying.
Next is pages and books per month. I am doing really well with reading every month. I only skipped one month in all of 2026 so far. Last year at this point, I had skipped two of the 6 months.
I am very happy to be reading more consistently in 2026. I really feel like I am getting back into reading in a lot of ways, and I’m still improving in others.
My average rating so far this year is 3.46. Last year, it was 3.68. Even though my reading consistency is improving, I’m not loving much of what I’m reading.
Looking at this graphic, I had 2 5-star reads this year, but last year I had 5 already. I need to reevaluate how I choose what to read! I’ve been reading books by authors I already know and like, but that isn’t working at all.
I am actually very proud of myself for how little series I started in 2026. Of those two I started, I finished one.
I was hoping to finish 6 series this year, and I don’t think it’s completely unrealistic. I only finished two in 2025 and started eight. So, I don’t want to continue to get behind.
The 1900’s-1990’s section is much bigger this year because of the Seuss and Roald Post. It’s nice to read older books for the first time in a while. I have been stuck in the 2000s for a long time now.
I would’ve liked to read more 2026 releases this year so I can vote on the Goodreads Choice Awards, but I still have some time to read a few more.
This may be random to mention, but I really wish the Goodreads Choice Awards had NOT removed the middle grade category. I love voting on it each year and finding new books to read from it as well.
My genre wheel is all over the place as always. I can get very tired of reading the same genre quickly.
Both this year and last year, I had read mostly fantasy and fantasy subgenres. I would like to get to more sci-fi in the rest of the year. I was considering rereading Skyward and the Murderbot books I’ve read as well. Skyward is now finished, and I own more than one book in the series that I haven’t read. It’s time to finally get around to finishing the series.
I haven’t read too diversely in 2026 compared to previous years, but I also knew that might happen this year.
I’m going to branch out more, try some new things, and see where all of it goes for the rest of the year. I have a few new series and authors I want to try, and I’m excited to see where that takes me.
