December Wrap Up 2023

Hello readers! Happy New Year!! It’s the final wrap up of the year. I had a lot of ups and down in December as far as reading goes.

I hope everyone’s final reading month of the year went really well! I feel like the first and last month are the most important.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was hoping to get this book done in November, but didn’t finish it till December 1st. I enjoyed this book more than the first one. I feel like book one ended in the middle of the story and this one has an actual cliffhanger.

If you like slightly spicy mafia romances, definitely check this one out.

(ARC) ⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐

We had to wait a long time in book one to get to the paranormal parts and it was worth it! This book was so good that I wish it didn’t end. I found myself dreading having to put it down. Mason is the QUEEN of a good twist ending.

I will warn you guys this book has an accidental pregnancy and I know many people HATE the pregnancy trope. I don’t mind the trope one bit, but many passionately hate it.

I can’t wait to read book three when it’s released and see where the MC goes.

⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐ (ARC)

This book is short and spicy and written beautifully. This is a smutty book in Eden that I didn’t know I needed. AND that ending has me excited to see what comes next in this world. I will be buying my own copy of this soon.

Yes, I managed to have 3 5-star books on a row! It was amazing, but the next book ruins it.

This one follows a witch living alone in the woods and a prince who she nurses back to health after he injures his leg in said woods.

I loved how cozy this book was. I enjoyed exploring her witchy powers with her instead of us just learning it by being told. The MC, Alma is so tenacious and independent and sometimes that ends up not being the best for her. Poor girl just cannot catch a break with everything being thrown at her.

This book is forced proximity with lots of yearning between both MCs. Alma was living alone for 10 years and just accepted it until he came along and threw her world upside down. I cannot wait to see more of these characters in the future.

⭐⭐

I really did not like this book. I don’t like in romance books when the author tries to take 3 or 4 popular romance tropes and mix it with shock value to write a book.

It’s rivals to lovers, fake dating, and there is a part with forced proximity. The third act break up was just miscommunication and that thing at the end.

Skip this paragraph if you don’t want to know about that trope at the end. It had that trope where the wife has a miscarriage and then the husband cheats on her. Not only that, but with her friend. I just cannot do it.

I know so many people named this as a favorite of 2023 and I just don’t see it.

⭐⭐⭐

This was a shifter romance between a woman and three men cursed to be Christmas trees. It was crazy and so good! I love this subgenre of romance. It’s so odd and that is what I like about it. I know not many would agree, but that’s okay!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was yet another great addition to the Monstrous Deals series! I was so excited to see Kalli’s sister got a book. I have no idea what this series has in store in 2024, but I’ll keep reading them as long as Wright is publishing them.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I could not go into 2024 without reading Antoinette’s latest book. This is her first M/M romance. I really enjoyed it. It is so funny that the idea of this book came from a moth being attracted to lights.

I read another book in 2023 that was a mothman romance and it was so weird. I mean, I like a little weird, but not that. But, this one was just a guy with moth wings, so it was fine.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (ARC)

This was a second chance romance between a woman and her brother’s best friend. She quit talking to him a few years back because of a horrible accident that he caused (or so she thought).

Then, she meets up with him again and decides to agree to fake date him to make him look good. I didn’t love the MMC, Miles at first, but he honestly grew on me. And, it had such a heartwarming ending. This was a good one, but her last book was my favorite of the two.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I literally finished my second read through of Fourth Wing two hours before midnight.

I loved this book more the second time. I mean, that ending hit me even harder the second time. I cannot wait to see what happens next, but I have to wait for my turn on Libby!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I read this for my daughter’s homeschooling. If you are a kid or have one, it’s the perfect read. It has a really basic rundown of science in a way that any kid could understand.

I really want to read the adult version because I didn’t really learn anything new in this one. I mean, I didn’t learn nothing, but almost.
