Hello readers! I know, today’s post was supposed to be a WWW Wednesday, but I haven’t been reading much of anything the past 2 weeks, so there isn’t much to update you on. Instead, I decided to do a tag. I thought I did this tag before, but I have searched my blog and I can’t find it.
This tag was created by Booktuber The Book Archer, so please check her original video out if you haven’t!

A Popular Book or Series That You Didn’t Like
These are two popular series that I DNFd both of the first books. I just think my expectations were too high. I didn’t find Eragon very interesting and had a hard time imagining the world for The Golden Compass, which made me kind of lost. These series are modern classics, but they aren’t for me.
A Popular Book or Series That Everyone Else Seems to Hate but You Love
I’m not sure how hated this series is, but when I see people bring it up, they never have anything good to say.
The Darkest Minds is one of my all-time favorite series and I don’t see what it is about it that people don’t like. This series is the perfect mesh of character driven and plot driven. There is so much action, and the found family trope!
HIGHLY recommend this series if you haven’t read it.
A Love Triangle Where the MC Ended up With the Person You Didn’t Want Them To
If you know, you know!
I just think the person Alina ends up with makes no sense at all. They fought a lot and had too much tension, then suddenly are together? It was just weird for me.
A Popular Book Genre That You Hardly Reach For
I don’t read sci-fi, romance, or surrealism/magical realism.
For sci-fi, I don’t like books set in space, that center aliens in space, space ships, space opera, or even robots. However, I don’t mind science-centered sci-fi and am the exact same with movies. I have liked a few books with aliens that were set on earth, but it still isn’t my favorite.
I do like fantasy romance, but other types of romance are hard to love. I am on the ACE spectrum, so it’s difficult for me to be convinced of love interests in historical, contemporary, or just plain romance books. There is just something about fantasy romance that does it right.
For magical realism, I just don’t like when things aren’t explained. I think surrealism isn’t specific enough. I have never been good at inferring information. I need my books to tell me exactly what they mean. I also dislike when there is magic that is explained away as if it never existed. For instance, I read a book recently where there was this magical creature only two people could see. It was explained that one of them had been accidently consuming a hallucinogen and the other had brain cancer. I want the magic to be real and more structured.
A Popular Author You Can’t Seem to Get Into
Neil Gaiman. I have tried over and over to like his books and I just don’t. He writes the kind of magical realism that I just don’t vibe with. I am happy for the 99% of everyone else who loves him, though!
A Popular Book Trope That You’re Tired of Seeing
I think my most disliked trope would be the miscommunication trope. Authors have even been more creative with it recently, and I’m not happy about it! I hate this trope in all forms and I think most people feel the same way.
A Popular Series That You Have No Interest In
I just have sooo many popular series I know I will never read. They just don’t spark my interest and I have so many that do. This list is just a couple of those examples.
The Saying Always Goes, “The Book Is Better Than the Movie,” BUT What Adaptation Do You Think Was Better Than the Book?
The DUFF by Kody Keplinger. The D.U.F.F. was super popular in the early 2010s when I didn’t read anything outside of paranormal and fantasy books. I saw the movie a few years ago and thought it was hilarious and decided to pick up the book and I HATED it. The movie is a completely different story and is sooo much better than the book. I’m sure some might disagree.
