Hello readers! It’s time for a book tag. It’s not technically winter just yet, but I’m bringing you a winter themed book tag.
How is everyone’s month going so far? It’s been a crazy busy month for me, but I’m having fun!
This tag was created by Booktuber Taylor Reads.
Crackling Fire: Who is your favorite cold character who warmed up toward the end?

One duology I read a few years ago had this child character in it who was insufferable. She was disabled and treated terribly by her mother.
It takes place in London during WWII and follows her and her brother moving to the countryside during the war. And, she is so mean to the people she lives with.
Once you get to the end, you realize she is a product of her environment, and she comes around to it all in the end.
Snowflakes: What is a book that was full of unique characters?

This entire series has such unique characters! Everything from the two sisters we follow, to the love interests, to each and every side character.
This is the type of book everyone either loves because it’s so weird or hates it because it’s so weird. For me, I love it and all its quirks.
Gingerbread family: Which fictional family would you want to be a part of?

I would have to say the Weasley family in Harry Potter. This family is absolutely chaotic, but they are so loving. They all care for one another. And, they always welcome other people into the family like with Harry.
Despite the author’s backwards beliefs, I’ve always thought this series was about inclusion, no matter the background of the person. And I love that the Weasleys represent that the most.
Blizzard: What is a book that had you confused the whole time?

I was planning to read The City We Became and saw it had this little short story that came before, so I decided to read it.
I listened to the whole thing, it was around 40 minutes long, and I cannot tell you what happened. I was so confused the whole time. I looked at other reviews and I am not the only person who felt that way while reading this one.
It was too confusing for me and I didn’t end up reading The City We Became because I assumed it might end up just the same.
Gift giving: What is the last book that was gifted to you?

I think the last book I was gifted was Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, which I got for my birthday from my mom back in March.
I am not even sure what this book is about, but honestly, it doesn’t matter to me. I just know it’s Brandon Sanderson and that’s all I need to know.
I was just so surprised I found it at the bookstore because my local bookstore NEVER has his books outside of Skyward.
Snowball: What is the biggest book you’ve ever read?

The longest book I’ve ever read is Les Mis, which was 1,232 pages long. It took me a long time to get through this one, but it was so worth it!
Earlier in 2024, I did a post about the 10 longest books I’ve ever read if you guys are interested in that.
This is worth the read if you like classics or books that span someone’s entire lifetime. It takes place across a few decades, but it’s honestly one of my favorite classics I’ve read.
Wrapping paper: What is your most beat up book?

I got this copy of Great Gatsby at goodwill many years ago and it is very beaten up. The copy is from the 50s and is even missing a corner.
I don’t mind it, though. I like owning the book and I like having books here and there that have some character to them.
Christmas lights: What is a book you own that has many colors on the cover?

I would say any book in the Lemoncello series. These books covers are always so bright and exciting to look at.
Ice skating: What is a book that had a plot that was all over the place?

Don’t get me wrong, I loved this book. But, it could get confusing at times. There is so much time travel that occurred over and over that it lost me on occasion.
Christmas tree: Who is your favorite character of all time? Yes, you can only choose one!
I would say Aled from Radio Silence. Aled is a demisexual character and best friend of the MC in Radio Silence. I identified with this character so much. I’m actually wondering if the character is neurodivergent, too?
The star: What’s a book you look forward to rereading each year?
I am not a big rereader, but the book I’ve reread most is A Christmas Carol. I have read this book around 10 times in my life.
