The First WWW Wednesday of 2026 (01.13.26)

WWW Wednesday

Hello readers! It’s time for a WWW Wednesday. I haven’t read much this month, but I am still steadily reading. I’ve managed to read something on 8 out of 13 days this month!

I was going to post one of these last week, but all I had finished was Dr. Seuss for that post. However, I am here and ready to talk about books!

If you don’t know, WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Taking On a World of Words where you share what you have read recently, are currently reading, and will read next. You can do this EVERY week, or as often as you like.

What are you reading?

I have 100 pages left in Amari and the Great Game. I have been reading this one very slowly all month. I will absolutely be finishing it this week!

I never know what to say about the 2nd book in a series when I talk about them. Amari and the Night Brothers, book one, follows Amari, who goes to a magic school where she investigates her brother’s dissapearance and navigates being sort of an outsider.

Every kid who goes to this school has a magical ability. Once Amari does the ceremony to activate hers, she finds that her ability is an illegal one.

What Did You Read Last?

I picked Crumble up randomly from my library earlier this month, not really knowing anything about it. It’s a middle-grade graphic novel, and there was food on the cover, so I grabbed it. I was not prepared for this book AT ALL.

This one follows a girl named Emily, whose entire family can bake magic into their food. They are not supposed to bake when they are having any negative feelings because it has negative effects on the magic.

Emily’s aunt, with whom she lives, dies, and she decides to spend her time baking anyway.

This story was about grief, which I wasn’t expecting. It was such a cute story, with a touch of sadness. I think there could be a euphemism or two about addiction or just bad habits that come with loss.

I recommend this one for anyone looking for a book about grief with a touch of magic, too. It was super short and easy to read as well. I probably read the whole thing in 20 minutes.

What will you read next?

I’ve been recommended Amulet by quite a few people in the comments here and on TikTok. I know it’s a middle-grade fantasy series following two kids who move in with a distant relative after their parents die.

Within the house are creatures of all kinds, which proves to be dangerous for the kids. There is also a robot bunny.

I’ve read one book by this author before. Well, he did the art at least for Brandon Sanderson’s picture book, The Most Boring Book Ever. Kazu Kibuishi’s Amulet series seems both underrated and well-loved at the same time.

I did get these first two books out of the library before, but I didn’t end up getting to them before we had to return them. So, I want to make sure that I absolutely get to this one this time.

What have you read this week? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I hope you enjoy the rest of Amari! I enjoyed the second book but definitely not as much as the first. Might need to re-read it before continuing the series. Happy reading 🙂
