2026 Reading Goals: Blogmas Day 3

Hello readers! Let’s talk about some reading goals for 2026. I didn’t read that much this year compared to previous years, but I think I did pretty good on my 2025 ones. That post will be coming soon.

Today, I am bringing you some very simple reading goals I have for 2026. Each year my reading goals get more and more simple. I think it’s because I really have maintained or reached a lot of my reading goals. I read Pretty diversely and I try a lot of new authors while making sure to read one’s already know along with continuing and finishing plenty of series.

The one thing I think this is missing though is a really fun reading challenge. I know every single year I always say I won’t do buzzword-a-thon the next year if I didn’t manage to do very well in the previous year, but I’ll probably do that again or at least try. Also, I’m still going for HRCYED! Reading challenges and readathons are so fun for me, so I love joining in, even if I don’t do the best on them.

This year I read around 30 books, so I’m going to try to get a bit higher than that and go for 50 books in 2026. I think it’s doable if I really put my mind to it.

This would put me at (almost) one book a week, which I could do in theory if I manage goal 3.

I had 95 books at the beginning of 2025 that I hadn’t read. Of those 95, I now have 83. That doesn’t seem like a large dent, but nearly half the books I read this year were owned books. And, I decided to unhaul a few as well.

I’d like to continue this goal into 2026. I currently own 91 books that I have not read. Of those 91 I’d love to get it down to 80. That is completely doable for me. Now, my number might increase if I get books for Christmas. So, I’ll let you know in my updates next year what my number actually was.

The purpose of this goal was not to get my TBR to zero or anything, but to stop letting books sit on my TBR for years and years unread. Once they’ve sat on the TBR that long, i have a really hard time finding motivation to actually read them.

One thing I have struggled with over the past 2 years has been reading consistently. I genuinely have lost my passion for reading, but I want it back. I don’t want to give up on this hobby because I love it so much.

In 2026, I’d like to start reading more consistently. In a perfect world I would say that I want to read every single day, but that will not be manageable for me right at the moment.

However, I want to read at least 4 days a week. I’m going to try and not go more than 2 days without reading something, even if it’s just one chapter.

I’m going to print off a tracker that I can check off and color each day so I can see how often I am reading. I think it could help me make reading a habit again. I’ll share a picture of it for you guys to see in my updates through the year how I’ve done on this.

I actually printed on for this month to get a head start on building the habit. Having this tracker on my wall where I have to look at it every single day really does help me remember to do the thing. I was using this exact same one earlier this year to start a exercise routine and it absolutely helped me.

I was pleasantly surprised that I finished 4 series this year! So, I’d like to do this again in 2026. I’m going to try for 6 finished series in 2026. That would be one every other month, totally doable.

I used to do this thing where I tried to put a lot of space in between books because before that I had a hard time distinguishing them in my mind. But now I’m thinking, why not go ahead and just binge a series?

I feel like I let a lot of people in bookish spaces get in my head about things for a while. Like people would say it was bad if you can’t remember every little detail of every single book in a series, or of every book you read, but at the end of the day, I don’t get why I have to remember everything. Is there going to be a test later? If I ever wonder what I thought about a book I can just come to my blog and look, or Goodreads.

I plus, for me it’s not remembering every single random thing about every book that makes me love reading. I love the experience of reading it as I’m going. I understand the need to remember things if I’m reading like a dense fantasy or something, but again I also have a process for that just in case I can’t remember everything. I also just have a bad memory.

Let me know what you guys are doing in 2026! I feel like over the past 5 or 6 years, I have managed to create well-rounded reading, so I don’t know what to aim for much anymore. Of course, it’s not perfect, but there isn’t any LARGE holes I can find.

Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨

  1. Bingeing a series is just the best thing. Good luck with your goals especially trying to get back into a reading habit. The tracker sounds like a good idea
