WWW Wednesday

Hello readers! It’s time to talk about what I’m currently reading. Since last week, I have finished a book and got a good chunk into another one.

I am really enjoying what I’m reading lately, even if I’m not reading as much as I used to. I think I need to accept that I can’t always have time to read 15 books a month.

I haven’t read more than 10 books in a month since January of 2024 and that’s okay. I want to read more than I do now, but I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that I probably won’t be able to read 100+ books every year anymore.

Let me know if you guys are enjoying the books I’m mentioning lately! I worry about only talking about middle grade and YA recently.

What are you reading?

I started Red Pyramid Monday night and I am currently 100 pages into Red Pyramid, book one in the Kane Chronicles.

This one follows siblings Sadie (12) and Carter (14) whose father is banished by an Egyptian god and they have to save him.

Both siblings have very different lives, so it’s a big change for them to be and work together. Sadie lives in England with her grandparents, and Carter lives in the U.S. with their dad.

So far I am really enjoying it. It’s refreshing to get a new perspective and lore from Riordan. I know nothing about Egyptian mythology and that makes it a bit more interesting as well.

What Did You Read Last?

I finished The Last Olympian and was really surprised. I didn’t remember much about this book, so the ending was a shock to me. I honestly cried at the end of this book, which was so unexpected.

I LOVE that Riordan takes disabilities like ADHD and dyslexia and makes them superpowers in his books. It really is beautiful to see so many kids will see themselves represented here. In a world that treats people with disabilities so poorly, Riordan has showed that being different is not wrong.

What will you read next?

Tristan Strong is one of the Rick Riordan Presents series and I thought I’d go ahead and try one of them again. It’s been a few years since I read one now.

This one centers west African mythology. It follows Tristan when he spends a month at his grandparents after the death of his best friend.
