Reading Goals Update 2025

2025 Reading Goal update

Hello readers! It’s half way through the year, and that means it’s time to give you guys an update on my reading goals. I think I’m doing well so far, but we will see.

Check out my original post HERE.

In my first quarter update, I was 8 books behind, and I am nearly double that now. BUT, I still think I can hit 75 by the end of the year. I just finished book 19 last night, but I have a big TBR this month that I didn’t mention on my TBR post for the month.

I am joining a new reading challenge next month that spans a year, and I think can help me get motivated. I just enjoy reading more when I am aiming toward a goal or challenge.

I wanted to tell you guys about this challenge I’m doing, but I’m not sure if I should or just give you an update on it every few months. Would you guys like to see a TBR for a reading challenge? I can do one every two or three months.

It starts on July 7th and is called The Hardest Reading Challenge You’ll Ever Do (Year 2). I don’t think I’ll get the entire reading challenge done, but I’m going to try! I think it’ll be fun. And this challenge is heavily centered on reading diversely, and I LOVE THAT.

In 2024, my average page count was 265. In the first quarter update, it was 355, and it is actually even higher now at 358. I am feeling really good about this overall.

I think the reason I’ve been reading less big books for a few years is audiobooks. I see an audiobook over 12 hours and then I skip to the next one. It’s something I’ve been really trying to NOT do in 2025 and I think it’s working so far.

Nearly 60% of the books I had read in Q1 were owned books. And, I am at less than 50% now. I still think this is good, HOWEVER, I have hauled so many books this year. I have hauled more than I’ve read. But I don’t plan to buy a lot of books for the rest of the year.

I also have an unhaul post coming this month because I have decided to get rid of quite a few books.

I have one more book on my physical TBR than I did in January, which I don’t think is that bad given that I’ve hauled a lot this year.

In 2024, only 26% of the books I read were diverse in any compacity. In q1, 20% of the books I had read were NOT diverse. I am still at 20% non-diverse books, so I’m still doing really well on this one.

Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
