WWW Wednesday

Hello readers! It’s time for WWW Wednesday. I have been reading like crazy this month. I started school back up this week, but I’m not slowing down anytime soon.

Are you guys starting the year off good with your reading? I hope so! Does anyone else feel so much pressure when starting off the year? I just feel like it’s such bad vibes if I dislike one of the first books I read.

Look at me last year! I really didn’t like a lot of what I read in January of 2024, and it all went downhill from there.

I’m currently almost halfway through Nevermoor. It’s over 450 pages long, but it doesn’t feel it at all.

It follows a girl who is cursed and is also destined to die on her 11th birthday. Bad things happen all over town and she is both blamed for it and her parents are expected to pay for it.

She goes to this bidding ceremony for kids where people can bid on said kids to make them their apprentices and someone bids on her out of nowhere named Jupiter North. She is super confused as she is going to die in three days, but he doesn’t care. He takes her to this magical world he is from called Nevermoor so she can become his heir.

The Sea of Monsters is the 2nd book in the Percy Jackson series. I am enjoying these books so much more than the first time around. On Goodreads, I said this book was underwhelming the first time I read it. I didn’t go into detail, though. So, I have no idea what I was underwhelmed about?

However, I am enjoying the series so much this time around. I am going to get through these Wheel of TBR books first, but I might go ahead and continue this series within the month.

The next book on my Wheel of TBR I’m going to read is Family of Liars. I am both intimidated and excited. I mean, I loved We Were Liars so much. I worry this book won’t be as good as the previous one.

It’s a prequel, but I actually have no idea what it’s about other than that.

Has anyone read this? Did it live up to book one? I loved We Were Liars, but I also read it 8 years ago. I am probably just overthinking it here.

The other book I need to start soon is Wonderstruck. I am getting close to the time of the month where I go to the library and I already renewed this one the last time I went.

I don’t know what it’s about, but I’ve read the Invention of Hugo Cabret by this author, and The Doll People series, which he did the art for. Like The Invention of Hugo Cabret, this book is also told mostly in pictures. I love a unique format in a book and Selznick is such an amazing artist.
