An autistic book lover

WWW Wednesday (12/11/24)

Hello readers! It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for a reading update. I haven’t been reading at the pace that I’d like to, but I know I’ll be doing much better after this week. This week is a big college week for me and I only have one week left after this until break.

I am hoping to finish this one today at some point. It follows a young girl who is haunted by this being who want to possess her. It has Poltergeist vibes for sure.

I didn’t realize until yesterday that the MC is 8 years old. I thought she was more along the age of 6 or so. She reads very young for an eight year old.

I am enjoying it. I HATE the mother character, although many of the adults are a little ridiculous. They remind me of adults in middle grade books.

This book is really spooky, actually kind of terrifying, and I am hoping to really enjoy it.

I learned the reason that the rating on Goodreads is so low is because most people hated the ending, so I am worried I will, too. BUT I’m optimistic. I’ve loved things people hated before and vise versa.

I finally finished The Ministry of Time. It was okay. I don’t know how to full explain my feelings on this one.

I liked it in the first half. There was plenty of interesting parts and I loved the dynamic of the MC along with the guy from the 1840s. He was pretty funny. It was pretty unrealistic that he wasn’t extremely racist or sexist, but I tried to look past it.

The ending was interesting for this one, but overall I thought it was just okay. I think it needed more scifi elements or something. I’m not fully sure.

Orbital is another scifi book high up on the list of the Goodreads Choice Awards this year.

This one is the type I don’t read often, which is the ones set in space, but I’m open to trying it. It’s very short. The audiobook is only 5 hours, actually.

This is just a genre that I love to just go into without knowing much of anything because I feel like the impact is greater for me, so I’m excited to see what it’s all about.

  1. I felt the same about The Ministry of Time. I really enjoyed the first part but then sort of fell out of love once I was about two thirds of the way through. It was OK but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped.
