February Reading Wrap Up 2026

February Wrap Up 2026

Hello readers! It’s already March! February really went by so quickly. I managed to get to 6 books in February, and I’m here to share them with you.

If you are interested, I posted a Problematic Authors post on Roald Dahl this week, and some of the books I read this month are in that post. I won’t be sharing them again here.

I am actually very happy with my reading month! I have really been having a consistent reading year compared to the last two. In January, I managed to read 10 days of the month. In February, I read 9 days in the month. It’s not where I wanted to be, but I am still very happy with it.

Stonekeeper is the first book in a middle-grade graphic novel series called Amulet. This one follows two siblings, Emily and Navin, who move to a mansion their mom has inherited. On the first night there, their mom is kidnapped by a monster and taken through a door in the basement to an alternative universe. They go on a journey to save her and to learn about their relative who previously owned the house.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very different from what I expected. I’m excited to learn more about the lore of the series. It also has an amazing art style. I did see his art before in a Brandon Sanderson book, so I knew I’d like it here, too.

I love a talking robot character, and this series had a few. I am wondering if we will learn more about that or anything else they’ve inherited from their grandfather.

Deserted Island Diary Vol 1 was a random book I found in the middle-grade section of the library. My daughter was looking around, so I was searching the graphic novel shelves.

It has a very chaotic chibi style in the writing and art style. It’s very goofy. I don’t really like that. I’m mainly just confused who this manga series is for. Is it for kids? From what I know, the majority of people who play ACNH are adults.

There are also a ton of references you’ll only understand if you play the game, but also, half of the book was a guide for new players. I have been playing for about 3 years now, so I really didn’t personally find that useful.

Your Favorite Scary Movie was such an interesting read. I read this book and rewatched all the movies in February for the new movie to come out. I really enjoyed it, but I think it also set me up for a disappointing movie.

If you read this book, you will see how much Scream 7 is everything Scream was never meant to be. I wrote an entire Scream 7 review if you are interested in seeing my thoughts.

As a lifelong fan, I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I really got to know the franchise on a new level. I loved seeing how familial all the cast and crew became with each movie.

I do have a big issue with how Melissa Barrera was discussed in the book. I was wondering during the entire book how the topic of Palestine would be handled.

Reading this, I know that she was fired by someone higher up in Spyglass Group. However, it was glazed over very quickly. I would’ve loved to see the author interview her or Jenna Ortega. There were other moments where she interviewed people who did have grievances with the movie or even Wes Craven himself.

This book also spreads a lie about why Jenna Ortega left the original Scream 7. This book states that Jenna Ortega was already planning on leaving and left because of scheduling conflicts with another project she was filming called Wednesday. That is not true. Jenna Ortega said in an interview that she left because everything was falling apart after Barerra’s firing, which she said way before this book was published.

Through Gates of Garnet and Gold is the newest book in the Wayward Children series. I thought the last book in the series was it, but we got a book 11.

I’m not certain this was for the better. I don’t know, this series has always been hit or miss, and I think that is true for everyone who reads it. We all have our favorites and least favorites. For me, this is probably my least favorite in the entire series.

We follow Nancy again, who was the main character in book one. The book is too short and too rushed for me. I didn’t really like any of the characters we were introduced to. The Lord and the Lady are characters we have seen before, but we didn’t see them this much. And they were just unlikable and lackluster.

I LOVED book 10 in the series. I will absolutely keep reading them as long as McGuire publishes them, but I need her to give a bit more consistency here going forward. Book 11 was not that good, but again, there are always hits and misses.
