Hello readers! It’s time to haul some books. I acquired two new books this week, plus an ARC. I’m really hoping to get back into ARC reading this year. So, let’s talk about some books!
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. You can click the link to get all the details, but in short, it is for sharing your new books!

I was having a rough day this past week. My boyfriend came over after work with this book in his hands. I think I mentioned wanting to read it at the bookstore previously.
This Princess Kills Monsters is a fantasy romance retelling of the Grimm Brothers’ The Twelve Huntsmen. From the description, it seems to poke a lot of fun at fairy tales.
I’m really excited for this one! It’s been on my radar since it came out, but it wasn’t available on Libby or anything. I think it will be a fun twist on the fantasy romance genre, which I think has become a bit stale.

I also bought this non-fiction book from my library this week. I read The Reason I Jump back in 2016. It was a book that was talked about on The Daily Show, so I picked it up. I used to watch that show a lot and read the books mentioned.
When I saw this on the Daily Show, it appealed to me because it was translated by a couple who had an autistic son, and they used Naoki’s perspective to understand him better. I remember finding this really insightful at the time.
I would love to reread it now, especially knowing how people had a lot of issues with the language usage. I know I wouldn’t have noticed that back then, but I could now.

I was browsing the Goodreads article on the Fantasy and Scifi books coming out this year. My favorite type of scifi books follow AI or robot characters, and I came across The Infinite Sadness of Small Appliances.
This one comes out in April and follows a Roomba named Scout. Scout loves to listen to her owner, Harold, read to his dying wife, Edie. Harold’s smart house is in the midst of being taken over by this thing called the Grid, so he partners with Scout and a neighbor kid named Adrian.
It really sounds like a mixture of Up and The Brave Little Toaster. I’m so excited for this one. I’ve read about 10 pages so far, and I am enjoying it. I’ll let you guys know more once I’ve read it, though.
Have you bought any books yet in 2026?
Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
