Deciding Yearly Reading Goals| Let’s Talk Bookish: Blogmas Day 13

Hello readers! I hope everyone had a great Christmas, if you celebrate. It’s Boxing Day if you’re from the UK, which I think is the British version of Black Friday.

Today’s post is a little impromptu. I was looking at LTB posts for the month the other day and decided I’d like to do this one. Let me know in the comments how you guys decide your reading goals! Mine has absolutely changed in the past few years.

Check out my Let’s Talk Bookish Masterlist for every post I’ve done.

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme that was originated by Eternity Books and is currently hosted by Book Nook Bits and Dinipandareads. The accompanying thumbnail was also designed by Book Nook Bits. Each Friday, bloggers craft posts where they engage in discussions centered around the designated topic for the week.

I do set annual reading goals! I made a post of my 2026 Reading Goals, which you can check out if you missed.

My first goal every year is always number of books. I used to also set a page goal every year. This past year, I just aimed to read bigger books and I absolutely did.

At the end of each year, I will take a look at all my stats and decide what I wish was different. If I didn’t read enough disability rep, I might add that to a goal in the next year. If I started 30 series, I would add a goal to finish more series.

I still did do this in 2025 because my reading was so un-diverse in 2024. But my 2026 reading goals were very different. I sat down to write my goals post for 2026 this year, and I wasn’t even sure where to start.

I don’t think my reading is perfect or anything, but I don’t see a need for any drastic changes. I read pretty diversely in many ways. I always read a ton of different genres, formats, series, and all other things. I try to read as many LGBT, POC, and disability rep books as I can.

At the moment, 19.5 % of the books I read in 2025 were NOT diverse in some way. I even have a separate chart where I track other types of diversity, like religion, specific types of disability rep or LGBT rep, and also things like being a trauma survivor or a non-conventional family unit.

I think if I could change one thing, it would be reading more self-published books.

I’m very happy with how intentional I am when reading. Reading from different perspectives is so important to me, and tracking everything as I go keeps me accountable.

What reading goal are you focusing most on in 2026? I made 4 goals this year, but the one I care about more than anything is reading consistently again. I can’t achieve much of anything if I’m not reading.

Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
