Alli the Book Giraffe

Hello readers! It’s time for WWW Wednesday, where I talk about my reading lately. I have been finally getting back into the habit of reading (almost) every day.

If you don’t know, WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Taking On a World of Words where you share what you have read recently, are currently reading, and will read next. You can do this EVERY week, or as often as you like.

I am half way through From Blood and Ash and I’m really enjoying it so far. There is a good slow burn romance going on, but also a lot of focus on the world itself.

Poppy is the type of FMC who can handle herself, but it’s also nice to see Hawke step in when needed.

One thing that is bothering me A LOT is Tawny. I hadn’t heard anything about this book negative or positive, so I wasn’t really aware of this. WHY is there a dark complected character named Tawny? It’s usually used as a skin color descriptor, even if many people hate it. But, it literally means brown. I don’t like that one bit.

Earlier this month, I read Happy Town. This was a good story, but I wanted a lot more out of it. It follows a boy and his parents moving to a new town where everything is perfect. Very much a utopian society, but the longer he is there, the more sinister it gets.

I just think there could’ve been more to it. I don’t think it’s the age group because The Giver is middle grade and it had a lot more depth than this.

I do think kids might enjoy it. It’s like a child version of Black Mirror, but it is very surface level.

I am honestly in the mood right now for fantasy romance, so I thought about trying Zodiac Academy. I know there are also vampires in this series. And, I always love a good vampire book.

I know this series is very long and beloved by fantasy romance fans and I want to see if I like it, too.
