Owning Multiple Copies of Books | Let’s Talk Bookish

Let's Talk Bookish 2025

Hello readers! Happy August. Summer is almost over. I am so ready for that! It has been unbearably hot lately. We had a heat index this week of over 100 degrees, which is NOT normal for where I live.

This week we are talking about owning multiple copies of books, which is not something I really do often.

Don’t forget to check out my Let’s Talk Bookish Masterlist of all the LTB posts I’ve done!

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme that was originated by Eternity Books and is currently hosted by Book Nook Bits. The accompanying thumbnail was also designed by Book Nook Bits. Each Friday, bloggers craft posts where they engage in discussions centered around the designated topic for the week.

Prompts: Do you have multiple copies of any books? What makes you want to get more than one copy of a certain book? What books do you have multiple copies of? Are there any books that you want to get more copies of in the future?

In short, I don’t really buy multiple copies of books. BUT I do have one which I own 3 copies of.

I’ve never been big on owning pretty editions of books. I honestly have been thinking about getting some down the line of one specific type of book, though.

Edgar Allan Poe is the only author I own many copies of. I mean, all these books don’t have the exact same stories and poems in them, but plenty overlap.

I absolutely DO want more in the future. I just really love Poe’s stories.

I first read him in my high school English course. We read Masque of the Red Death and The Raven. I’ve always been a lover of horror, so I gravitated toward his stories.

Edgar Allan Poe himself is also a very interesting person. He was married to his own cousin, which is very odd. But his death is also a completely unsolved mystery.

Because of this, many authors after him became inspired not only by his works, but by his life as well.

Edgar Allan Poe Fingerprint

For Christmas last year, I got this Fingerprint Edition of The Count of Monte Cristo, and I honestly would love to get more in this series. The book is so pretty! It has silver pages and a little bookmark.

This Edgar Allan Poe one has golden edges and is just as beautiful as the one I have. I’ve even been looking at their other books. Fingerprint has two different Oscar Wilde books, and I already own them, but I still would love to have those.

I have never really been interested in pretty editions of books, but when it comes to classics, it’s different for some reason for me.

  3. I love how specific your collection is—there’s something so cool about centering it around one author like Poe. His work really does lend itself to multiple editions with all the different collections out there. I totally get the appeal of wanting more, especially when they each feel a little unique despite some overlap.

Also, I completely agree that there’s something different about owning pretty editions of classics. Maybe it’s the sense of timelessness or the feeling that they deserve a little extra elegance? The Fingerprint editions sound gorgeous—the silver and gold edges alone make them sound like treasures. I’ve had my eye on those Oscar Wilde ones too, even though I already own his works as well… it’s hard to resist!

Thanks for sharing your story behind falling in love with Poe—that high school intro to The Raven and Masque of the Red Death is such a classic gateway into gothic horror.

    Happy collecting and reading! 🖤📚

P.S. If you’re curious, I shared some thoughts on multiple copies too!https://bookfllwerpath.art/2025/08/04/multiple-copies-of-books-lets-talk-bookish/
