Mid-Year Reading Stats 2025

Hello readers! It’s time to talk about some reading stats. I realized when preparing for this post that I haven’t done a mid-year or quarter-year stat post since 2023!

I really love stats and I’m excited to see how much they change from now until the end of 2025.

In 2025, I read 19 books and 6801 pages.

My formats drastically change every year. Last year I had read a lot of ebooks, but I’m focusing on books I own in 2025, so print has dominated.

I am hoping that it keeps dominating and my TBR severly shrinks by the end of the year. As of right now, I have one less book on my TBR than I did in January, so I am not doing that great.

In the past few years, I have had a significantly higher percentage of adult books. But this year, I have been mostly enjoying middle grade and YA.

I tried to minimize a lot of my middle grade reads in the past two years because I would make videos on Booktok about them and no one would watch them.

I am not really making videos anymore, so that hasn’t been impacting what I read.

I looked back at my stats for 2024, and I didn’t have a single book read by a non-binary author in the whole year.

5.6% isn’t huge, but it’s a big improvement! I also have less male authors than last year, but I don’t mind. The older I get, the less I read men.

My biggest portion is my Own TBR, and I even read a good portion of books I bought in 2025, but I need to improve even more in the 2nd half.

My reading hasn’t been consistantly this year at all, but I’m hoping to get back into it in the 2nd half.

Most of the books I had read in 2024 were under 300 pages. I made a goal to read longer books, and I did it! My average page count was 358.

I have a few big books on my TBR for the rest of the so I hope I can get to those and increase my average even more.

My average rating for the year is 3.68, which is slightly higher than 2024.

I am hoping to read a lot less 3 star books in 2025. I really don’t like reading 3 star books.

I do have more 5 star reads than the entirety of 2024, so that is a positive!

I am really happy with having finished 4 series in 2025. I only finished 1 in all of 2024.

I am really happy with this ratio so far! I hope to keep this up for 2025. I know I will most likely start plenty of series, but I can’t complain if I also keep finishing them.

For publication year, I have been all over the place. I wanted to read more 2025 new releases, but I am still waiting on them through Libby.

I wasn’t able to vote for any category in 2024 for Goodreads Choice Awards and I want to this year.

I actually have a post planned for later this month where I tell you guys the 2025 new releases I’ve read in the year.

This year I have been reading a lot of different types of fantasy, and I hope to continue in the rest of 2025.

I have a problem where if I read too much of one genre, I’ll get really sick of it and go into a slump again.

But I have been spreading it out across different subgenres and that seems to help. I just also find YA and middle grade fantasy to be more digestible for me. Adult fantasy can be so dense by page count but also by writing style at times.

I can’t believe my diversity stats in 2024! It was really not good. I had read 70% non-diverse books in 2024, and it was nearly 40% in 2023.

I’m doing better than both of those years in 2025, so I can’t complain. I really missed reading diversely.

I feel like this was also affected by Booktok because I was reading books that were popular or books I was recommended on KU, which were usually not diverse at all.

I really hope that Booktok matures in the next few years and starts reading things that aren’t just dark romances by white people. I don’t know how they do it.

  1. Wow, these stats are gorgeous. Where do you make your graphs and charts? My favourite pie chart website shut down and I need a new one.

I really need to do more tracking! I’d like to know stuff like this.

I used to read mostly YA and MG and a little adult, and these days I’m definitely reading more adult.

    1. I have a reading log on Google Sheets that I have the graphs on. I started out with the one that Book Riot made a few years ago and have slowly learned how to input the formulas myself. I believe they put a new one out every year now.
