Pride Month Book Recommendations| Lets’ Talk Bookish

Let's Talk Bookish 2025

Hello readers! It’s time for a Let’s Talk Bookish post. This one centers LGBT books. Check out my previous posts on this same topic including LGBT Recommendations for Pride Month and My LGBT Favorites!.

June 6: Prompts: Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 To celebrate, we’d love to hear about your favourite LGBTQIA+ books, why you love them, and what books you’d recommend for a summer Pride reading list. Are there any new releases you’re looking forward to reading this Pride Month?

I’ve now read two books by Sonora Reyes, who is a nonbinary author. Both of these books also feature LGBT characters as well.

The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School follows Yamilet who is struggling with being outed by her ex best friend, a school crush, and her father living outside of the country.

The Luis Ortega Survival Club follows Ariana, who joins a group of people who were all victims of of Luis Ortega in different ways. A big part of this book centers her being (mostly) nonverbal austistic and consent, but there is also a little bit of a romance.

Interstellar Megachef Lavanya Lakshminarayan

I picked this one up last year because I really liked the title. It centers a woman who competes in a cooking competition on another planet and the hardships she faces as someone from another planet.

It centers a lot on xenophobia. AND it has a F/F romance with sort of a rivals to lovers trope.

I loved reading this book and I can’t wait for book two to come out!

This author also has a book coming out in September I’m really looking forward to called The Golden Boy’s Guide to Bipolar.

This one follow’s Yamilet’s brother Cesar, trying to win back his ex boyfriend.

It seems like this one focuses on the internal shame that some religious people feel who are gay and I assume him having bipolar disorder.

You guys know I love a foodie book, so I’m also looking forward to I Leave It up to You by Jinwoo Chong.

It follows a man who has just woken up from a coma and goes back home to work in his parents’ sushi restaurant. He hasn’t seen his family in a long time, even longer than the coma he was in.

My hold is several months away on Libby (released in March), so it’ll be a while until I can pick it up.

Don’t forget to check out my Let’s Talk Bookish Masterlist for more LTB posts I’ve done!
