Hello readers! It’s time for a tag post. I thought I’d redo one I did around 4 years ago now called the 20 Question Book Tag.
I didn’t know who created this tag back in 2021 and I still have no idea. But as always, let me know if you know and I’ll credit that person!
How many books are too many for a series?
I used to have the opinion that there isn’t a number that I think is too many. But now I think it depends on the series. Sometimes an author can get super repetitive in their series and it can get old.
I would say I love when authors have a ton of books in interconnected series, but when it’s the same main character and the same tropes over and over, it can get boring.
How do you feel about cliffhangers?
I cannot stand cliffhangers. Does anyone actually like them?
Hardcover or paperback?
I am and have always been a paperback person. Especially when the book is over 500 pages. I love a floppy paperback.
Favorite book?

I never know what to say when asked this! I don’t know how to pick one favorite of anything. But, one book in my favorites list on Goodreads is To Be Taught if Fortunate by Becky Chambers.
This was one of the first scifi books I ever read and really loved. It follows four people on a ship in space attempting to find an alternate planet to live on. This book was super short, but had a big impact. It’s one that you’ll be thinking about for a long time after finishing it.
Least favorite book?

One of the worst books I ever read was Project Cain. The idea the author had was really good, but the execution was so off.
It follows a boy who is a clone of Jeffrey Dahmer. In this world, there are dozens of clones of serial killers and they put them into different living environments to study nature over nurture.
The MC Jeff and another person travels around finding other clones of serial killers who have gone on a killing spree. The way the story is told is so confusing because there isn’t any dialogue.
I thought it took away from the story that they kept giving random serial killer facts. It was completely out of place. And the language used by the teens in this book was so offensive. I am sure Girard has never met a teenager.
Love triangle, yes or no?
I LOVE a good love triangle. I feel like such an outlier on this one because everyone seems to hate them.
I just love the drama that comes with a love triangle. As long as it isn’t one of those ones with one of those really terrible characters as one of the love interests.
You guys know the ones. Like, the Adam Kent, Tamlin, or even Dain Aetos. These type of characters are just annoying to read about in a love triangle.
The most recently book you couldn’t finish?

The last book I remember fully DNFing was Iron Flame. I sort of skimmed the last 100 or so pages of this one because I was not feeling it at all.
It’s hard to fully explain why without spoiling this entire book, but I just don’t like the way certain things are handled with characters.
I feel as though, this series makes every character seem redeemable no matter what they’ve done and I don’t like that. There are other things, but again, spoilers.
A book your currently reading?

I am STILL reading this book. I do have a week off of school next week, so I might get around to it.
Honestly, I think I’ll have a bit more time in the summer to read. I’ve just been super busy in my life lately with my college courses.
Last book you recommended to someone?

I talk about this book to whoever will listen. It was honestly such a good book and I don’t know anyone who has read it. This book is highly underrated in so many ways.
It follows 42 teens who are put on an island where they have to kill one another until only one is left. A lot of people who have read it say they think The Hunger Games was heavily inspired by it, which I think could be true, but also might just be coincidental.
I saw that the author has written manga set in this world that I will absolutely be reading once I get my hands on it.
Oldest book you’ve read by publication date?

Most scholars agree that the Iliad was composed around 750 BCE along with the Oddyesy, which I’ve also read.
I read this one in high school like many people did, but I bought myself a copy recently so I can reread it. I’ve mentioned this before a few times, but I am a Hellenic pagan. So, I wanted to read through some of these works again.
Newest book you’ve read by publication date?

The book I’ve read that was published most recently is Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear, which was published in January.
This is the 10th and I believe final book in the Wayward Children series. This is honestly the best book in the series for a while. I would’ve loved to see a bit more, but I still really loved it.
Favorite author/s?
I made a Book Blogger Hop post about this about a year ago, but my absolute favorite author is Stephen King. He is the author who got me into reading as a kid. And believe me, I HATED reading when I was a kid.
Other than him, I really love Brandon Sanderson, Sophie Kinsella, and Alex Gino. I honestly have so many these days.
Buy books or borrowing?
I love owning books, but more often than not I am borrowing these days. I never want to take the chance and buy a book I might not like, so I end up buying very few books anymore.
I have also become a big audiobook listener in the past 5 or 6 years, which I rarely ever buy.
A book you dislike that everyone seems to love?

I really didn’t like this book and I feel like the only one. I really disliked that it had spice in it because it was really awkward. I also think it’s really odd to have a book centers a white neutrotypical woman that is about code switching.
This is something many black people in the US are forced to do because of systemic racism and autistic people do something similar called masking.
Another thing I really didn’t like was the man forcing her to stop code switching. Like, she was doing it to please other people and then she had to stop not because of her own choice but because he wanted her to. I did not like that one bit.
PLEASE let me know if you didn’t like this book because I feel crazy.
Bookmarks or dog earring?
Bookmarking. I would never dog ear a book!
A book you can always reread?

I would say the book I have read the most times and that is A Christmas Carol. I should reread it this year! It’s been quite a few years.
I’ve read this book 5 times, but it’s been more than 10 years since I read it the last time.
It’s just always been one of my favorites and I love revisiting the story with the book or even the movies. I’ve said this before, but The Muppets Christmas Carol is the best Christmas Carol adaptation to date.
Can you read while listening to music?
Honestly, I don’t usually. I am a big lover of Kpop and sometimes Jpop and Tpop, so listening to that while reading makes it hard to focus.
I actually really love listening to ASMR when I read physical books. I also listen to ASMR while I write posts and do schoolwork. It’s so calming and helps me focus.
One POV or multiple?
I love multi POV books! It really can add a lot to the story. I love in romance books when we get the POV from both sides. We hardly ever get to see the man’s perspective in a romance novel, unless it’s M/M, so I always find that interesting.
I love when we get 2 or more POVs in thrillers and one is in a different timeline to add an extra level of mystery.
Multiple POVs can also help with high fantasy novels so we can see even more of the world from many different perspectives.
Do you read the book in one sitting or over multiple days?
I almost never listen to a book all at once unless it’s really short. I probably could if I really wanted to, but I have too many hobbies to focus on.
