Stacking the Shelves 12 (book haul)

Hello readers! This past week I bought some books, so let’s talk about them! I have now almost hauled twice as many books as I’ve read in 2025, which is not good. But some of them have been books I’ve already read.

Most of these books I bought at my local library this past weekend because they were having a book sale. They have one the first weekend of every month, but I always forget about it.

Squished was one I picked up randomly because it was a graphic novel and I hadn’t heard of it before. It was in the middle grade section and I love a good middle grade graphic novel.

This one is about a girl who has 6 siblings and is feeling squished by them because she has no space for herself in the house. She struggles with sharing a room with two siblings, one of which is her baby brother, possibly having to move across the country, and friendship drama.

I’m excited to try this one out in the near future!

They had a Young Reader’s edition of I Am Malala, so I decided to pick it up. I’ve read the regular one before and I didn’t own any sort of copy of it. My daughter has actually read this one and her picture book.

It also feels like it doesn’t count when you buy a book you’ve already read before! 😂

Fake It Till You Bake It was one I randomly saw and just grabbed. I have never heard of it before, but I knew based on the title that it’s a foodie romance.

I love most food related books and I am always on the look out for them. On the plus side, it’s also by a black author. And you guys know I wanted to try and read more diversely in 2025.

Omar Rising is a middle grade novel and sequel to Amal Unbound. Amal Unbound is about a girl from Pakistan who becomes a slave to pay her father’s debt. It’s such a wonderful book about child slavery that any kid could read. It isn’t violent or anything like that.

This one is more of a companion novel and follows Amal’s friend Omar who gets into this boarding school for boys. He struggles to fit in as he is the only one there on scholarship.

Because of his status, he has different rules and standards put on him by the school and struggles to keep his grades up.

I don’t own Amal Unbound yet, but I know I’ll get it one of these days. So, I was thinking I might as well buy this one now and get the first one later on.

This one is a 7-in-1 of all the Narnia books. I think I’ve read 4 of them before and I didn’t own a copy, so I went ahead and got it.

These are in publication order, but I was reading them in chronological order. It’s been a long time since I read one, though. So, I might just end up rereading it down the line.

The last one is Secret Garden. I meant to get to this one in March, but I was just too busy with other stuff. However, I wanted to still get myself a copy so I remember to get to it.

I am not really sure what this one is about, but I’m excited to get to it. I don’t read enough classics anymore.
