The Book Blogger Oldie Tag

Hello readers! I was looking through the tags I’ve done in the past and was wondering if there was a veteran version of the Book Blogger Newbie Tag, and there is one!

This is the Book Blogger Oldie Tag, converted into a book blog tag by Nut Free Nerd from Booktuber Ariel Bissett’s original video. Ariel has privated the original video as she no longer makes bookish content.

Don’t forget to check out my Book Tag Masterlist for all the book tags I’ve done.

I started my blog on Wix back in August of 2020 and then moved over to WordPress in February of 2021. I was getting plenty of views on Wix, but I wanted a place where other bookish bloggers were posting as well. I was quite isolated over there.

I have been all over the place with how much I’m active, but it’s still my favorite platform to post on and the one I post on the most out of all the ones I do.

I went back and looked at my blog and I forgot I used to make my thumbnails in paint. I did not even know Canva existed before I came here.

I thought it would be so hard to create content if I wasn’t reading 20 books a month. I mean, I have read that much in the past, but sometimes I don’t. I mean, I managed to write blog posts most of the year without reading barely anything in 2024.

In total, I wrote 158 posts in 2024 and only read 33 books within 4 months of the year. It’s totally possible to make content without the pressure of reading all the things.

I don’t feel any sort of pressure here to read a lot or even read certain books like it is on other platforms, which can be so nice. In 2024, I pretty much quit posting everywhere except here when everything my life was going sideways.

Even though I know that blogging hasn’t shrunk at all over the years, a lot of the blogs I used to follow have quit posting. Either they just stopped posting or actively quit. I hate to see that happen!

Many of my favorite bloggers from when I started on here are no longer around, which is so sad. I know it can be hard to balance blogging with all other life things. Being in the book community on any platform is a hobby for most, but takes a lot of time and energy. I get why people quit, but I wish they wouldn’t.

The book blog Facebook groups that I post on have dramatically declined in active users, but I still love posting on there and keeping up with other bloggers through it. It’s so rare to find someone new posting over there, but I do love to see it.

I would say my 1st Blogiversary post where I created a tag with another book Blogger who unfortunately has not posted since 2022 for our 1 year anniversary of blogging.

I also created my first printable bookmark in that post and it still gets downloads to this day. I am so honored for every single download of it because it does have my blog’s name on it.

I’ve made one other bookmark and it also gets downloads. I should probably make you guys another one in the near future because you seem to love them. Let me know if you are interested in the printable bookmarks I sell on Teachers Pay Teachers! I mean, they are for kids, but still.

I did this post where I read the book community’s Best books of 2023 in July of 2023, and I found Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries. Honestly, I had never even heard of this book before that post.

I would also say any book that is a new release. I didn’t used to be the kind of person who would read books when they came out. I’d read books 3 or 4 years after release and starting this blog has always kept me up to date on new releases.

I really don’t know. Maybe content theft. I mean, this time last year I discovered two different sites stealing my content. BUT I rallied the entire book community and got the websites taken down.

It’s so frustrating to even have to worry about that sort of thing. I am a small blogger, so I never thought that would happen to someone like me.

I think my biggest goal right now is to reach 300 followers I am currently very, very close.

Other than that, I hope that book blogging can be more appreciated. Despite this community being that of readers, most people who read do not read blogs. I find that so weird.

The book blogging community reads so broadly, too. This really is the place to go to find people who aren’t just reading what is popular or books that everyone has heard of before. Everyone here is reading from many different authors and genres.

How long have you been blogging? What’s changed since you started? I’d love to hear your story . Feel free to do the tag or share your thoughts in the comments!

I don’t usually tag people, but I’m going to do it this time. I honestly just feel like I am bothering people, so I don’t do it.

Anyhow, I TAG:

  1. I really enjoyed reading your answers, there’s a lot I agree with and yes, I’ve noticed so many people just stop posting which is a real shame.

  2. Really enjoyed reading your answers. One change I’ve noticed is a rise in people using Instagram for reviews rather than it being somewhere extra to post if that makes sense.

  3. I love this tag and enjoyed your reading your answers. I’m really close to 300 followers too and my blog has been going for a similar amount of time. I really hope that content theft doesn’t become too much of thing. It’s must be so frustrating to see your content stolen and just used by someone else.
Here’s to the next few years of blogging 😃

  4. Thanks for the tag! This looks like a fun one. It’s so sad how so many bloggers have stopped. There are so many I miss, but it’s always so exciting to see when they come back, even if it’s just for a post or two.
