Hello readers! It’s time to give a reading update. I’ve finished a book since Sunday, but it isn’t the book I mentioned in my Sunday Post. I just couldn’t get into that book, BUT I still want to read it. It’s honestly me and not the book.
I am just in the mood right now for anything that isn’t romance, which isn’t good because I do have two romance books coming up on my Wheel of TBR for next month.
If you don’t know, WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Taking On a World of Words where you share what you have read recently, are currently reading, and will read next. You can do this EVERY week, or as often as you like.

I just started Wundersmith this morning. I know I said I was going to wait to read it, but I can’t help it. I really am interested in seeing what happens next, and I also am in the mood for fantasy books right now. It was either this or starting yet another series, and I have already done that too much this month.
Honestly, I am fearing that 2026 is going to be the year where I struggle to finish series because I’ve already started so many and it’s still the first month of 2025. BUT, that is a problem for future me.
I am really excited to see what happens next for Morrigan Crow. She seems like she is going to be one of those Luke Skywalker type characters that will be caught in-between good and evil and will have to choose one or the other. I am excited to see if I’m right about that and what I think is going to transpire going forward with her.

I sort of randomly picked up The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street on Monday. I’ve wanted to read it for a long time because I’ve heard good things, but I didn’t know much about it. It follows a family who is being evicted from their apartment and all the kids are trying their best to stop it.
These kids are so precious. They start making petitions and gifts to convince this landlord to let them stay in the home they’ve lived in their whole lives. It’s actually very wholesome and heartwarming following them. My only complaint is that I think this book should’ve been longer. It wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking, but it isn’t a huge deal for me.
This is the first book in a 7 book series and I’m excited to continue, I just am in the mood for fantasy right now and this is has no magic in it at all.

The next book I am hoping to pick up is Starfish. This is a middle grade book, written in verse, following a young girl who is bullied for being fat.
I own this book and I thought it would also work for that patterned cover prompt. BooksandLala showed some examples of covers that sort of looked like the water on this one, so I think I’m going to read this for the prompt as well, just in case Wundersmith doesn’t count.
After that, I am probably going to go back to the Vanderbeekers series. It’s such a long series and I do not want to let myself forget to continue it.
