Hello readers! It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time for a tag. I’ve actually never done a autumnal themed book tag before. So, today we are going to fix that!
The autumn reading tag was created by Booktuber Amy Jane Smith, who as far as I can find, no longer exists.
If you are interested in any of my previous tags I’ve done, CLICK HERE.
Are there any books you plan on reading over the autumn season?

I have a few I’d like to get to this autumn. First is Malice, or I’d at least like to start it.
Next is Emily Wilde’s Map of the Other lands. Now that I’m reading again, I really need to make my way through some of the ARCs I had from the last year. And, this is one of them.
September brings back to school memories: What book did you most enjoy studying? And, what were your favorite and least favorite subjects in school?

I actually enjoyed a lot of the books I studied in school. One of my favorites is The Christmas List by Richard Paul Evans.
This one follows a man who isn’t very likable and hasn’t been nice to anyone in his life. I think he is inspired by Scrooge, but I don’t know if that is true.
He has this sort of epiphany and decides he wants to right all his wrongs over the years. And, so he goes back to all these people who he has hurt and apologizes. For some, this goes well and others it does not.
My favorite subject in school was history. I took nearly every single history course my high school offered. This included Current Events, World History, Government, Econ, US History, and even Indiana history.
My least favorite was Language Arts. I was NEVER good at English class in school. I only got better as an adult once I was in college. I wouldn’t know where to put a comma or what an adverb was when I was there. I struggled so bad.
October means Halloween: Do you enjoy scary books and films? If so, what are some of your favorites?

I’d like to say I love horror books, but I really haven’t found too many that I’ve really liked.
Into the Drowning Deep is a scifi horror about killer mermaids. Back when I started this blog, I wrote a dedicated review on it. I think it was one of only two I ever did a dedicated review on.
You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight doesn’t have great reviews, but I really loved it. I think if you like the vibe of 80’s horror slashers, you will enjoy this book. It doesn’t take place in the 80’s, it just has that vibe. ESPECIALLY that ending.

When it comes to horror movies, I LOVE them. I’ve loved horror movies since I was a kid. The Scream franchise is probably my favorite one out there. I’d like to get a ghost face tattoo one day.
I love trying out new ones, but many of the popular ones right now are just violent and traumatic. I don’t think things like Terrifier are scary. I’d rather watch something truly scary, not just gross.
I recently watched one on Netflix called Don’t Move about a woman who has to escape being kidnapped after being given a tranquilizer. Now that is terrifying.
With November it’s time for bonfire night & firework displays: What’s the most exciting book you’ve read that really kept you gripped?

I would say Mother May I. This was one of the first ARCs I ever got. Mother May I was genuinely such a good book, but I never recommend it to anyone.
It follows a woman whose baby is kidnapped and she has to try and get it back.
The reason I NEVER recommend this is because it’s a hard read. Like, if you could be triggered at all about anything involving a baby dying, DO NOT read this.
It’s such a good book, but this villain kills babies. She describes it in detail and describes drugging them. She also tries to blow up the MC’s baby. It really is unputdownable, but might be traumatic for most to read.
What book is your favorite cozy comfort read?

My favorite cozy series is the Seaside Cafe series. This is a cozy mystery following a woman who comes back to her home town and opens a tea shop. This is iced not hot tea.
I want to read more books like this one! I love cozy mysteries, especially those which center food, and I don’t read them enough.
Curled up with a good book: What is your hot or cold drink of choice?

One I LOVE is the vanilla coolatta at Dunkin Donuts. When it’s around autumn and winter, I’ll get this and ask for peppermint to be added in. I love peppermint the way most white ladies love pumpkin.
Other than that, I love sleepy time tea. Sleepy time tea actually has peppermint in it, too. I have a caffeine intolerance and also really don’t like coffee, so you won’t catch me drinking it often.
Any plans you’re looking forward to over the next few months?
Nothing in particular. I usually do Thanksgiving at my house, but I am not up for it this year. But, I will be making my pineapple upside down cake for whomever’s house we do go to.
