Hello readers! This week I am revamping Down the TBR Hole. When I did this the very first time, I actually went through and told you guys why I was keeping or removing each book. And, I saw so many people that would just show what they were keeping and what they were removiing, so that’s what I did when I started this series again in 2023.
I have been thinking about this for a while now and honestly, I want to go back to breaking it down why I am or am not removing a book. Let me know which one you prefer! Do you guys want to know why I am keeping or removing? Or, do you guys like just seeing the book covers?
So, the way I have been doing it in the last 21 editions is where I stop after I hit 6 books on either category, but I’m not going to have removing and keeping categories anymore, so I think I’ll go for 8 books each time.
Essentially, you go through 5 to 10 books per post on your Want to Read shelf on GoodReads and purge all the ones you know you won’t be getting to anytime soon. If you want to see a more detailed version of how this works, check out Jody’s post. She is doing her Down the TBR Hole posts on Thursdays if you want to check those out!
Last time, we ended with 158 books on my Want to Read shelf, but are starting with 161.

To be completely frank, it’s getting to the point for me that I don’t think St. Martin’s Press or Wednesday Books are planning on addressing this boycott that has been going for MONTHS. I am embarrassed for them. 🤡
PC Cast is one of my favorite authors, but dang. I actually rejected the ARC of her newest book because of this boycott. I was accepted in the Wednesday Books influencer program and told them to take me out of it.
If there is even a little bit of a chance that certain people can’t get ARCs because of their skin tone, then I don’t want them either. I don’t want to be associated with racism. And, because of that, I am removing this book. I might just unhaul the series at a later date.
I know it is fine to read the books and the boycott is only about promoting them. BUT, I don’t want to read books I can’t post about.

I absolutely still want to read this one! I just haven’t been reading classics much lately. I don’t think I’ve read a classic in the 2020s, but I know I’ll be in the mood for them again one of these days.
I read Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables and honestly, the book is HUGE. Probably too big. But, I really loved every minute of it. And, I will read more from him again.

I know this book centers grief and that is why I want to read it. 10 years ago now, my dad died. And, this book follows a teen named Tiger whose mother dies and she is learning how to cope with it.
If you have ever experienced a parental death, especially at a young age, you will know it changes you. I mean, I was 20, but that is still young to lose a parent. My dad didn’t get to see any of my adult milestones and that was hard to deal with. And, I hope to get to this book one of these days. It isn’t on Libby or anything, so I’ll have to get myself a copy.

Okay, I have had this book on my physical TBR shelf for too long! My brother in law got this book for me for Christmas a few years ago and I still haven’t gotten around to read it. Why, you may ask. I don’t know,
Well, hopefully I can get to this one in 2024 because it has been on my shelf for years at this point.

So, I read this author’s debut back in 2019, I think. I got it in my Book of the Month subscription in 2017. So, I know I had it for a while. I only had that subscription for 2 or 3 months total.
I then saw she had Wilderwoman coming out and I was so excited because I loved her debut. But honestly, I have lost interest in this book. It took her so long to publish it after it was announced and I genuinley don’t think I’ll ever actually read it now.
I couldn’t even tell you what this book is about. I don’t ever look at the Goodreads descriptions when I’m doing these posts because I know that will sway my opinion. I just think the hype is gone for me.

Speaking of Victor Hugo, The Court of Miracles is a retelling of Les Mis.
So, the first year I did Down the TBR Hole, I did a post during Blogmas where I went back and removed some books that I didn’t remove in previous posts and I think I’m going to do that here.
If I do that post during Blogmas, I’m going to remove this book if I haven’t read it. I mean, I want to read it still, but I’m not sure if I actually will ever get to it. If there was a maybe list, this book would be on that.

I will absolutely get to this book at some point. I love Lisa Jewell’s books! Once I am in my mystery/thriller mood again, this one will be read.

Now this one hurts a little bit. Have y’all ever bought a book brand new and then not read it immediately so you feel like you wasted your money buying it right when it came out? That is this book for me. I bought it in September 2020, right after it came out and I can’t believe I payed full price for a hardcover and didn’t read it!
I haven’t read anything by this author despite wanting to for a long time. I was interested in his Neverland retelling book as well, but I thought I need to read this first because I own it.
