Hello readers! It’s January now and that means it is time to look back and see how 2023 went with my stats. I absolutely love stats and track so many different things. I don’t even show you guys all the things I track to be honest.
In 2023, I read 36,306 pages across 129 books. That is over 13k pages more than 2022 even thought I only read 39 more books. I read a lot of short books like 2022, but I read a lot of bigger books as well.

I read two books over 600 pages and they were both Fourth Wing. I am just happy to see big books back on my list. I used to read majority books over 400 pages and fell out of that in 2020-2022.
I found that reading smaller books as I’m reading a really big one helps prevent that big book fatigue I get these days.

This is the books per month and pages per month. I do not read as much when I’m not doing well mentally and you can see when that dropped off in 2023. I am doing much better now and hope to carry it into 2024!
I always read a ridiculous amount in August every year and I have no idea why that is.

Here is my breakdown of ratings. I only gave one book 1 star and that was Haunting Adeline. Seriously, do not recommend that book.
I had a pretty great reading year. I read a lot of romance and those are easy four and five stars for the most part.

I have also read more adult books than ever. I finally stopped allowing myself to read so much YA. I just don’t enjoy it as much anymore and used to just read it anyway.
I just am trying to make sure I only read YA when I’m really sure I’m going to enjoy the book.

I got male authors all the way up to 35% in 2022 and it fell more than previous years this year. I really don’t like that I read majority of one gender.
However, I am also a little scared to read many indie authors who are men because they are the ones most likely to attack reviewers.
We will see what happens in 2024 with this, but I don’t have a goal around it or anything.

For the first time ever the majority of my books were ebooks. Idk, Booktok just helped me to fall in love with reading with my eyes again.
I fell into the habit of mostly listening to every book I read. I still love audiobooks, but I have a better balance between reading with my eyes and not.

Speaking of ebooks, another big difference in my reading was Kindle Unlimited. I got KU back in September or August and have used the heck out of it since.
It is the perfect place to go if you love indie authors. There are some trad pubbed books, but they are not as common. I would love to explore the non-romance side of KU more in 2024 as I know I won’t always be in this romance mood.

I used to take out all the sungenres before I showed it to you guys, but I don’t anymore.
I love having such diverse reading in genre. I feel like a weirdo in the book community because I read so broadly by age group and genre.
This is my breakdown from romance and non-romance! I always have one genre that I focus on more than others and this year it was many different subgenres of romance. Something about a really good romance mixed in just makes the story so much better! It’s so weird cos 20 year old me would’ve said the opposite.

This one is pub date. I read so many 2023 releases! I mean, I read a lot in 2022 as well, but even more this last year.
I like being able to vote on Goodreads every year. But, I also love reading new releases from indie authors.
I would love to read some older books in 2024, but I know new releases will again be my bread and butter.

This one compares 1st book in a series, books within a series, last book in a series, and stand alones. I need that in a series and last in a series to shoot up in 2024.
The fact that I started nearly 40 series in 2023 is honestly ridiculous. Many of those series are not finished, so I can’t finish them, but I want to finish as many as I can. I think I set a goal for 24 series, which is not crazy compared. I might count catching up on the series if I know no more books are coming out in that year, but we will have to see.
I’m pretty happy with most of these stats for 2023! I have a few I’d like to work on and others are fine as they are. How did you guys do this year? If you missed it, I also had a post where I wrapped up my reading goals from 2023.
