Hello readers! It’s now the third Thursday of the month. That means it’s time for another tag. If you are American, what are you doing for Thanksgiving? I am always the cook. I don’t mind it, though! I love baking and cooking and I usually spend two days in front of the stove getting everything prepped and ready for eating.
This tag was created by a Booktuber named Catalyst Reads who no longer exists.
Which trope or tropes in books annoys you the most?
Whatever that trope is called where there’s an ex or close male friend of the FMC and he is allergic to her success. He will just complain about not getting attention or how he is just trying to protect her even though he wasn’t asked to. They are also usually one half of a love triangle.
You know, the Adam Kent, Dain Aetos, Tamlin or Gale Hawthorn type. Whatever that trope is, it is the worst!
What are your least favorite books you’ve read since you started blogging?

I have to pick this one because I read vit for a blog post. I really disliked this book and most of the reasons are spoilers.
One I can say is that we learn who committed the murder half way through the book and we learned it outside the perspective of the main character. Then, I had to sit through 200 more pages of a bunch of people trying to solve it when I knew who did it already.
What is a terrible ending that ruined an otherwise quality book?

I know I have the most unpopular opinion on earth here, but I wish this weren’t a romance. If this book were about a woman who was on a journey to realize her self worth, it would’ve been one of the best books I’ve read all year. I was not rooting for this romance for one second.

Can I make an honorable mention for this series? Divergent was so good and then Allegiant went and ruined the entire series.
Seriously, back then I was recommending this series left and right until I read book three and now I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The book that ended this series was so bad! I read this book 10 years ago now but can vividly remember my experience while reading it and everything I didn’t like.
Which fictional character do you wish was not killed off?

Skip the next paragraph if you haven’t read this book or the series!
Well, this is my first time reading this series and it was really so sad not only seeing Darius die but also Anne. Talk about a true romantic tragedy. I know they found one another in the afterlife, but it was so sad to see them dead by the end of the book!
What are some of your bookish pet peeves?
My biggest pet peeve has to do with page length. I am so picky about this. So many books are either way too long or too short. If I’m going to read a 500+ page book, it better be worth every page. But, I also hate when I read a 250 page book and it just feels unfinished.
What are some books you think should have more recognition?
Middle grade books! I don’t think enough adults read middle grade books. I LOVE Alex Gino’s books for one. They are all very LGBT forward, which I love. Middle grade books are so diverse and powerful and I wish more people read them.
What are your thoughts on censorship and banning books?
I think I said this before, but I’ll say it again. I think people who ban books are afraid of people having knowledge. The biggest threat to a narcissist is being smarter than them.
I get not wanting a kid to read certain books with adult content like Sarah J Maas or something, but as a parent, I can decide that for myself. Some random patron at the library doesn’t get to decide for us all.
Read banned books!
