WWW Wednesday (10/4/23)

WWW Wednesday

Hello readers! It is the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for a reading update. I haven’t finished a book yet this month and I am not even close to it, but I wanted to talk about what I’m reading right now. All the books I’m reading are just really long and I’m taking my time with them.

If you don’t know, WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Taking On a World of Words where you share what you have read recently, are currently reading, and will read next. You can do this EVERY week, or as often as you like.

I am now half way through Sins of the Shadows. This book is about a group of people, the main one being named Pym, who are working together to make it into this assassination academy.

We are following them from the trials of initiation through their time at the academy itself. This book is so good! The writing is really amazing for one. This author has very atmospheric writing without it being too flowery.

It’s also very fast paced and so much is happening, but it’s not overwhelming at all. She also balances spice very well. Pym is very promiscuous! My only complaint is the chapters are really long, but that isn’t a huge deal.

I am almost 200 pages into Things We Never Got Over. It started really strong with Naomi, who has left her fiance at the alter to come to Knockemout, Virginia to help her twin. She goes into this local coffee shop to meet the twin and is met with Knox, who is very rude to her. Everyone hates her twin in town, named Tina, and all the people mistake her for Tina.

Come to find, Tina has stolen her money, her car, her phone, and has left her with her 11-year-old daughter that Naomi has never even met.

Once we get about 50ish pages in, the story slows down and Naomi is just trying to cope with living somewhere new, having a child to take care of, Knox continuing to be rude AF to her, and not having any money or a car.

I am just waiting for something to happen at this point. I was thinking before I even started it that nearly 600 pages is WAY too long for a contemporary romance and I still don’t think the length is necessary. Of course, I could change my mind in the rest of the book.

I am only 40 pages into this one so far as I found a group of people to read it with on IG and we are reading 13 chapters a week for the rest of the month. As a result, I am reading 2 chapters per day and haven’t read my chapters for today yet. This book will probably be on every WWW Wednesday post this month because of that.

This trilogy follows three different brothers. When their grandfather dies, they are all given a task they have to complete in order to get their share of the company. The company itself is sort of like Disneyland.

This brother is given the task to become the director of a big project and find the flaws within the company. Once he goes in to start his job, he meets Zahra. She works in the salon and he instantly doesn’t like her. It’s very grumpy sunshine vibes as she is very positive in her job.

I just got to the part where Zahra submits her idea for a new ride at Dreamland and I assume that creates a situation where they have to work together. Many people say Zahra has Disney adult energy and I’m excited to see what that really means.

This is a spicy fantasy romance following a NB, plus size fae witch. I’m not really sure how to describe this one. I am 160 pages in now and so much has happened.

There are these two brothers, one was meant to take the MC as a partner and become the Solar King. The problem is that the wrong brother comes to take them, named Hemlock, and they allow it. They want to take back their kingdom and are plotting to kill both brothers to do so. However, the MC is beginning to like Hemlock and his wife and is having a lot of mixed feelings about everything.

This book is unlike any other I’ve read. I love that language in this book especially involving pronouns and such. No one is called a man or a woman, but masc or femm. This book is somewhat chaotic, but in a good way and I’m just here for the ride.

This was the last book I read in September and I did talk about it in my wrap up. It was a really good book that came after another book called Remotely Love. This book also came out yesterday and is on KU as well as Remotely Love.

The next book I’m hoping to start is The Fractured City, which is an ARC that comes out on the 18th. I was supposed to review it by the 3rd on Booksprout, but I haven’t done so yet.

I keep almost starting this and then I don’t, but I need to VERY soon. I have so many ARCs to get throguh this month plus my project I’m working on and I wish I could have two sets of eyes sometimes.
