WWW Wednesday

Hello readers! It’s been a while since I wrote a post like this. I’ve been slacking off on my reading game lately, gotta admit. Started a few books, but haven’t managed to finish any in a while. Despite that, I figured, why not drop by and chat about the book I’m currently reading?

If you don’t know, WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Taking On a World of Words where you share what you have read recently, are currently reading, and will read next. You can do this EVERY week, or as often as you like.

I am so elated to be finally reading an Sanderson book this year. He just has so many books I want to get to. Should I be reading an unread one that I actually own first? Probably. However, both his new releases are now on Libby and I’m not waiting to read them.

A man wakes up in a forest clearing that looks like medieval England. He doesn’t remember who he is, where he’s from, or why he’s there. Some people from his own time are chasing him, so he needs to remember his past, make friends with the locals, and maybe even believe in their superstitions to survive. He was supposed to have a guidebook called “The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England” to help him from the modern world, but it exploded on the way. He saved a few pieces of the book that give him some clues, but can he understand them in time to stay alive?

This was my last DNF. So, I made the decision to give Hooked a try—a romance retelling featuring Wendy, a 20-year-old, and Hook. As I started reading, Wendy unexpectedly finds herself at a bar, catches Hook’s attention, and he becomes aroused by her ‘innocent look’. I can’t help but feel slightly uneasy about this remark, but I choose to overlook it and continue.

But then we learn that Hook deeply despises Wendy’s father. He even goes as far as expressing his desire to engage in intimate activities atop her father’s lifeless body. I had to replay that part again because I was certain I misheard. However, I abruptly stopped listening after that. I’m still unsure how that was intended to be interpreted as sexy.

Cambridge professor Emily Wilde, an expert on faerie study, is writing the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. However, she struggles with socializing and prefers the company of her books, dog, and the Fair Folk. When she arrives in the village of Hrafnsvik, she has no intention of befriending the locals or spending time with her charming yet frustrating academic rival, Wendell Bambleby. While researching the elusive Hidden Ones in the forest, Emily finds herself questioning who Wendell truly is and what he desires. To uncover these mysteries, she must also confront the enigma of her own heart.

Folks, I’ve got some exciting news! If all goes according to plan, this masterpiece will grace your screens later this month. And guess what? It all begins with this book. Now, I won’t reveal all the juicy details just yet, but I will say, I have seven books planned for this upcoming post. I can’t help but hope that when it finally hits your feeds, you’ll be head over heels in love with it.
