Alli the Book Giraffe

Hello readers! Today’s post is a book blogger hop. I really do not do these enough here on my blog. BBHs and Let’s Talk Bookish allow me to give more of my bookish opinions, which I love.

If you’ve never heard of Book Blogger Hop, it is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addict. Each week a discussion topic is given and many book bloggers post based on that topic. New topics start on Friday and end the following Thursday.

This Week’s Topic: Do you still enjoy reading children’s books?

This is such a fun topic! I personally love reading kid’s books. My favorite genres are realistic fiction and mystery, but I sometimes read outside of that. I just love books that hit me right in the feels and make me cry!

I also recommend reading kid’s books if you want to read more diversely! In this day and age, middle grade is extremely diverse. Reading books about people outside of your experience increases empathy. Empathy is a skill that can be learned by anyone!

Another reason to read kid’s books is to have something to relate to your kids with. If you have any kids, it is so much fun to read a series that they read. I personally have a 10-year-old daughter and she loved Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I’ve been reading that series since before she was born and it’s great to have that connection.

I also started reading middle-grade books in high school because I HATED romance in books, movies and TV. I highly recommend reading middle grade if you don’t like romance in books or are asexual. I now read romance without issue, but back then it really aggravated me that everything had a romance in it.
