Down the TBR Hole 3 (2026)

Down the TBR Hole - removing old TBR books from Goodreads list 2026

Hello readers! Welcome back to Down the TBR Hole. I’m having a lot of fun with this series. I’m considering doing a post, sort of like my masterlists, where you can find every Down the TBR Hole series I’ve done. I think this is the 4th or 5th time I’ve done this.

This post will be part two of sorting through the Want to Read shelf based on authors who appear on my Want to Read list more than once. Next, I’ll be going over the Want to Read shelf based on series.

Last time, we ended with 227 books on my Want to Read shelf. This has already been my most productive edition of this series because of the twist I’m taking on it. It really has brought a new life to it for me!

Rebecca Kenney is the first author we will be going over this time.

Ruthless Devotion is the 3rd book in the Gilded Monsters series, and A Heart so Cold and Wicked is the 2nd book in the Mythic Holiday series.

I’ll be keeping both of these. I’m up to date on both series and plan to keep reading both.

I have 4 books by Stephen King and will be removing most of them. If you read my Stephen King post about what I’ve read and the top of my TBR of his books, you will know that both Holly and Never Flinch are on that list.

However, Holly is book three, and Never Flinch is book 4 in the Holly series. I’ll be removing both, as I haven’t even read book one yet.

Goodreads says You Like it Darker is connected to both Cujo and Rattlesnakes. I haven’t read Rattlesnakes, so I’ll be removing this one as well.

I’ll go ahead and keep Billy Summers. I would like to get to this one soon. I do own it, and it interests me a lot.

Sophie Kinsella is another favorite author of mine. She unfortunately passed away from cancer in December.

What Does It Feel Like? is her fiction novelization of her life with a terminal illness.

I’ll be keeping that one, and Remember Me?, which I own. I’ll remove The Burnout for now until I read the other two, and Surprise Me, which I also own.

Meg Eden Kuyatt is one I did not expect to appear twice. The Girl in the Wall is a horror middle grade book, and Perfect Enough is the sequel to Good Different.

I’m excited for both of these, so I’ll be keeping them. I’ll be reading Perfect Enough as soon as I can get my hands on it, but it doesn’t come out until this summer.

Next up is Sarah J. Maas. I’m going to go ahead and remove all of these. Since she announced the new books in the ACOTAR series, I’ve been debating whether I am going to keep reading her books.

She has done quite a few questionable things at this point. If I do end up continuing her book series, I probably won’t be posting about it.

Please let me know your thoughts on SJM. I am very conflicted about continuing her series, and I’m not sure what to do.

Next up is John Marrs, who has become one of my absolute favorite authors.

I’m going to keep Dead in the Water, which is his 2026 release, and remove the others.

I already have the next few books lined up that I plan to read by him. I bought some of his audiobooks on Audible earlier this year. I just need to get around to starting one of them.

Goldy Moldavsky is the author of Lord of the Fly Fest, which I loved. I have both of these books on the TBR. I think I’m most excited for Just Say Yes, so I’ll keep that one over Of Earthly Delights.

I remember being excited about Of Earthly Delights, but I can’t even remember what it is about now.

Sonora Reyes is an author I’ve read twice now and loved both times. I think they could be a potential favorite author down the line.

Between these two books, I am most excited for The Golden Boy’s Guide to Bipolar over The Broposal. So, I’ll be removing Broposal.

Aisha Saeed is an author I’ve read many times, but only in the middle-grade age group. I’m super excited for Hafsa’s Way, which was released about a week ago, so I’ll be keeping that one.

Matchmaker is a book I am not sure what it is other than I know it’s a romance. Will I read it one day? I have no idea. So, I’ll be removing it for now.

I honestly do not need this may books by Sanderson on my Want to Read shelf. Sunlit Man, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, and Isles of Emberdark are all standalone books. Words of Radiance is the 2nd book in the Stormlight Archive, and The Lost Metal is book 7 in Mistborn Era 2.

For this one, I am going to keep the books in series and remove the others. I also own Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, but I own quite a few others I haven’t read. I am currently planning to prioritize the series.

Angie Thomas is the last one for this edition of Down the TBR Hole.

I can’t believe I still haven’t read Concrete Rose! I still plan to read it and will be keeping it. I also own the book.

I recently became aware that she also wrote a middle-grade series, so I added it back in December. I will hopefully be trying this series out this year! It’s been out for 3 years now, there are 2 books in the series so far. Have you read this?
