New Year’s Book Tag (2026 Edition)

Hello readers! It’s 2026! I hope everyone had a good holiday season. I sure did. I had a great year in 2025, which I really needed after 2024.

Today, I am continuing my tradition of posting the New Year’s Book Tag. This is the 4th year in a row doing this one. Check out my Book Tag Masterlist for my previous editions and other book tags I’ve done!

The New Year’s Book Tag was created by Booktuber Bookables.

This year, I am aiming for 50 books. I was worried about aiming too high because I read 30 in 2025, but 50 can absolutely be done if I put my mind to it.

How hard can it be? If I manage to build back my habit of reading more often, it won’t be. I’m at the point where I’m prioritizing bigger books, so I may be reading fewer books, though.

I’m excited to see how I do this time next year. It’s so fun for me to go back and read these again each year.

One thing I’d like to do in 2026 is finish some series, so I’d love to get to all three of these books.

I have TOO MANY to choose from, but these are at the top of my list. Both series are ones I really enjoy, I just haven’t prioritized getting to them.

Another top priority is rereading Skyward so I can continue this series! I had a few books I wanted to reread in 2025. I did get to some, but not as many as I would’ve liked.

I now own books 1, 2, and three novellas that come after book two. It’s time to get to reading them!

The last one is one I put on this list in 2025, and that is Priory of the Orange Tree. I need to get to this in 2026! I’ve owned it for so many years and have yet to read it.

I just know I’m going to like it when I do get around to reading it. I’ve heard so many good things. The ratings are all amazing. What is stopping me?

I want to read more middle-grade fantasy books. I have always been a lover of middle-grade books, but in general, I read literary fiction.

However, I have dived into Nevermoor and back into Amari and the Night Brothers, and it has made me think I could really enjoy this genre. I’d love to explore some of the popular series that are out there.

1| Travel more

One thing I really want to do in 2026 is travel more. I am already planning a trip for December for my boyfriend and me to go to Seattle. There is a convention next December for the anniversary of Halo, which is one of my boyfriend’s favorite video games.

You know, I live in Indiana. I haven’t been to a lot of states in my life. I’ve been to Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee.

In 2025, I travelled to northern Ohio for the first time. I hadn’t ever been north of Indianapolis inside of Indiana before. I’m tired of being in this state in general, so I need to travel more.

As far as I know, we are not planning on flying, so this will be a LONG road trip. But I’m excited. I get to visit so many new states!

2| Getting a job

I am so tired of being jobless. My time being a stay-at-home parent has hurt my ability to get a job, along with the minimal time I get to myself.

I am either going to finally get this job at Intuit or go to McDonald’s and try there if need be. I have to do something. Especially if I plan on traveling at all in 2026.

3| Pay off more debt

I did AMAZING in 2025 when it came to paying off debt. I mostly did this with the tax check. I don’t think I’ll be getting any of that in 2026. But I want to continue paying it off.

My ex left me with 9k in credit card debt, and I managed to pay off over 2k in 2025 alone. I am hoping to pay off as much, if not more, in 2026. I’m tired of all this looming over my head.

I have to go ahead and say this one again. I HAVE to read this in 2026! I can’t keep putting it off. Back when I bought this book, it was a standalone fantasy, and now it’s a series.

Have you read this one? Did you love it or hate it?

Adventurous.

My year was really good in 2025. It was by no means perfect, but I did accomplish a lot. I hope to have some adventures and spend a lot of time with my family going places.

My boyfriend has traveled a lot more than I have, and he wants to travel more with me as well. I’m excited to see where I end up at the end of 2026. I am doing so well, and I hope I’ll be doing even better in 2027.

Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
