Personal Library Book Tag (2026)

Hello readers! Today’s tag post is one I’ve done before, but it’s been a few years. This one’s topic centers on your personal library. I can’t lie, I don’t have the library setup I’d like in my house. Most of my books are in stacks on my floor and in my closet.

This tag was created by fellow WP blogger 24hryabookclub.

Don’t forget to check out my Book Tag Masterlist for the 100+ book tags I’ve done before things one!

As I said before, most of my books are not on shelves. But I still do have an organizational method. At the moment, I have an entire shelf dedicated to vampire books.

The other shelf is mostly my favorites. I have Sanderson on top, my favorite middle grades on the next shelf, other favorites on the third shelf, then the rest of the high fantasy I own on the bottom.

My closet is full of Stephen King books, and then I have stacks organized by genre, such as classics, the rest of the middle grade, YA, and non-fiction. Last is the TV stand. The TV stand has everything else on it, which includes contemporary, thriller, and romance books.

Later this year, I am hoping to build a shelf onto my wall that will hold everything on my floor and TV stand. It will be so nice.

I would like more literary fiction on my shelf. I read quite a bit of the genre, but I usually listen through Libby when I do. I would like to work on acquiring some of my favorite ones I’ve listened to over the years.

I got rid of a ton of my Stephen King books quite a few years ago because they were mass market paperback and I had decided I wanted most of his books in hardcover.

I was on the lookout for these exact editions of Desperation and the Regulators because the covers make one picture.

My aunt Carol randomly gave me a giant box of books she didn’t want anymore, and these exact editions were in the box. They were the only Stephen King books in the entire box, so I was shocked!

I think people would be surprised that I own the entire Mortal Instruments series. I have never had positive things to say about it.

I own them and continue to do so because of how much I disliked them. I feel like I grew as a reader from reading something I disliked so much. Never before this series had I been able to write nearly 1k words in a review of a book.

I did write both positives and negatives for each book from books 2 to 6, which are on my Goodreads if you’d like to see them. Don’t be afraid to add me on Goodreads! It’s always linked to the right of my posts or at the bottom in my Linktree.

I went back and looked at the oldest book haul I did on this blog, which was in the Spring of 2021. This is the only book in that book haul I have yet to read.

I also featured this on my Read it Or Unhaul It Challenge for this year. In that post, I gave myself a list of books to read this year, or I will be unhauling them. Now knowing this is literally the book that has been on my TBR the longest of all the books I mentioned, I know I need to prioritize it even more.

Dark Tower series

This box set of the Dark Tower series has been in my Amazon cart for a while now.

I don’t usually buy pretty books, but I really like this one. And I don’t own any of this series anymore. I used to own some mass-market paperbacks of a few of the books, but I unhauled them a while ago.

I really want to start (and maybe finish) this series in 2026. I just finished the Bill Hodges trilogy, and I’d like to get to the Holly Gibney series next. But this one is at the top of my priority.

I have two goals for my personal collection. One thing I have been sharing with you guys which is to get my TBR down. My TBR has gone up a tiny bit in 2026. But I know I’ll get it down as the year goes on.

In January 2025, 24.3% of the books I own were unread. In January 2026, it was 24.2, which is where it currently sits.

I don’t necessarily mind having a large TBR in my collection. I just don’t like letting the same books sit on it for years and years.

The other thing I’ve been working on in the background over the past two years is increasing the percentage of my owned books that are by POC authors, or just not by white American authors.

I own about 390 books. Of those, about 66% of those books are by white American authors. I did improve that by about half a percent in 2025. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but half a percent of 390 is almost 20 books.

I don’t have a numerical goal for this one. It’s just something I’ve been trying to work on and want to keep working on in the future. I’ve just been trying to be more mindful when adding books to my collection.

Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
