Hello readers! It’s time for my MGM TBR. I am super excited for Middle Grade March this year. I am going to try to read as many books as I possibly can in March.
First, I will go over the books I’ll be reading for the prompts, and then I’ll share some other books I’d like to read this month. Let me know what is on your TBR for Middle Grade March!
Check out the Middle Grade March announcement video if you are interested in participating!
Name in the Title

Hafsa’s Way is a companion novel to Amal Unbound and Omar Rising. They aren’t a series, but are connected.
Hafsa’s Way follows Hafsa, who wants to be a doctor. This is an unheard-of dream for girls in her hometown. A family member offers to pay for her to go to a science camp for kids, and she takes the offer.
This one comes out on the 10th of March, so I’m hoping to read it. If you are looking for something to read for this prompt, I highly recommend Amal Unbound, which centers on child slavery.
Books on Cover

Mr. Lemoncello’s Very First Game is a prequel to the Lemoncello series, where Mr. Lemoncello is 13. In this one, Luigi (Lemoncello) gets the chance to work for one of the most famous showmen at a carnival, but first, he has to solve a puzzle box and treasure hunt.
I would also like to get to Ms. Pennypickle’s Puzzle Quest if I’m able to. This was Grabenstein’s 2025 release.
This one follows two brothers who go on a puzzle quest across Route 66 to win the million-dollar prize.
Historical Fiction

Max in the House of Spies is the group book for this readathon, so I decided to put it here for the historical fiction.
This one follows Max, who is a Jewish boy forced to move to London during WWII. He goes on a journey with his two non-human companions to make it back home.
I am not the biggest fan of historical fiction, but WWII does usually work for me. I’m excited to try it and see how it goes.
Siblings Featured

The Amulet series is perfect for this prompt. This one follows two siblings, Emily and Navin, who move to a mansion their mom has inherited. On the first night there, their mom is kidnapped by a monster and taken through a door in the basement to an alternative universe. They go on a journey to save her and to learn about their relative who previously owned the house.
I have only read book one so far in this series, and I have checked out books 2 and 3 from the library. Whichever book I am on by the time March comes around will be the one I read for this prompt.
BIPOC Author

The Marvellers is a book I was considering trying out, and then I found a copy of it at my local bookstore for less than $5.
This one follows Ella, who is a conjurer. She is the first of her kind to attend this magical school, which comes with its own unique challenges and isolation.
Once she finds her small friend group of misfits, a teacher goes missing, and a prisoner escapes with some conjurer’s help. To defend herself from the rumors, she journeys with her new friends to find the missing teacher.
This book’s description really reminded me of Nevermoor and Amari and the Night Brothers, so I really hope it lives up to that. I have read from this author before, but I don’t remember much about the book I read.
Other Books on My TBR

I have had books two and three in the Click series now for a while, and it’s time to get to them!
Book one in the series, Click, follows a girl named Olive whose entire grade is given an assignment of participating in a talent show.
We follow her figuring out what her talent is. She is also struggling with everyone around her breaking off into cliques when she wants to be friends with everyone.
Book two, Camp, follows her going to camp, and book three, Act, follows her running for student council when she notices an injustice that affects a few other students’ abilities to go on a school field trip.

I haven’t read a Riordan book recently! So, I need to continue the Kane Chronicles. I have been spending the past year or so trying to read through the entire Percy Jackson universe. But I’ve only managed to get to 6 books so far.
Book one in this series was not my favorite, but I do want to stick to reading through all these books.
I do like that the series is sort of a mix between YA and middle grade. It still has the humor of a middle grade, but the lore is much more developed. I’m just not sure if Riordan is the person to write a book about racism. However, I am happy that he also became very aware of this and created Rick Riordan Presents as a result.
To be honest, reading this series was probably not necessary. They follow completely different characters and mythology, even if they are set in the same world. I don’t think Percy ever appears in the series. But I have a bad habit of being a completionist.

I am adding two other books that I don’t own. Stepping Stones is a graphic novel follows Jen, who is struggling with her new life. Her dad has recently married a woman with two kids, and they moved to the countryside. We follow her struggling with her new life.
Cookie Crumbles has both a cooking competition and a cozy mystery plot. The main character joins a baking competition to get into a boarding school, but is also accused of poisoning one of the judges when they collapse.
I’m excited to see this format in a middle-grade book! I’ve also read and loved many books by Alechia Dow, so I am sure I’ll like this one as well.
Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
