Over 30 Book Tag

Hello readers! It’s Thursday, and that means I have a new book tag post for you guys. This book tag was created to celebrate book community members over 30. Next month I’ll be turning 32. My life has changed so much since I turned 30, and I’m so happy that it is the case.

How many of you reading this are over 30? I wish I could see the age demographics of my readers!

This tag was created by Booktuber INKNOTBLOOD.

Don’t forget to check out my Book Tag Masterlist for the 100+ book tags I’ve done before things one!

The Seaside Cafe series is a cozy mystery series following Everly, who has come back to her hometown after a breakup to open a tea shop. She also solves murders in her spare time while dating someone new.

I believe Everly is 29 in book one, but is 30+ in most of the series.

This is my favorite cozy mystery series by far. I love that Everly starts her life over and is surrounded by support. She also finds new love, and we get to see her dating someone with a child. I love a step-parent trope as a step-parent myself.

I have to say Good Different. This book follows an undiagnosed autistic girl. I related a lot to her. Especially the parts where she mentioned having a ton of different rules for how to act like a ‘normal’ person.

Masking is something all autistic people do, and I never realized I was doing it until I found people online talking about it.

Things We Never Got Over is a romance book about starting over, rebuilding your life, and navigating single parenthood while trying to deal with your own past.

This is the phase of life I am in now. I am juggling all this and a new relationship. The MC Naomi is also in her 30s, like I am.

Starting over in your 30s is not a failure. It’s never too late to do something new! I have a very different life than I did a few years ago, but I’d rather be here than there.

I saw this quote about a year ago that I now have on my wall that says, “Even if I could go back, I wouldn’t belong there anymore.”

Despite Percy’s struggles, he always remains so loyal and persistent. I can relate to that a lot. I think I’ve always had a lot of obstacles in my way through my entire life, but I’ve never let them change me.

I care about doing what is right and persevering through all struggles. Percy is also neurodivergent, which I can relate to. I love that this book shows neurodivergent kids being the heroes. They get to be the protagonist who is made better by their neurodivergence. It’s never seen as a negative thing, which is so powerful.

Les Mis is one of the best classics out there. It’s really long, so I understand why many people will skip it. But I highly recommend getting to it at some point in your life.

Les Misérables follows Jean Valjean, who is on the run after escaping jail. Every time he settles down, his past catches up to him, and he has to start over. We follow this character through nearly his entire life.

Jean Valjean was sentenced to nearly 20 years for stealing food. Underneath it all, this story is about poverty and classicism.

The Memory Police takes place on this island where things keep disappearing from people’s memories. Except for a few people who can remember them. These are small things, such as ribbons and hats. The main character in this one is a writer, and she decides to hide her editor because he can remember things that the Memory Police are erasing.

I’ve heard both really good and bad things about this book, and I want to see where I sit.

Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨

  1. Great tag and it was lovely to get to know you a bit more. I found the majority of my 30s freeing and it was a decade that definitely brought change!

    1. I really love how you described your 30s as freeing because I am feeling the same way!

      1. I’ve loved letting go of things and caring less about pleasing others.

  2. This is a fun tag although I think I would struggle finding books that I felt represent me. I think one reason I love fantasy is because all of the characters are so different to me.
I’m always interested by how old other bloggers are too and I know I’ve been surprised in the past when I’ve found out how old someone is.

    1. I completely agree! Some of these prompts are harder than they look. I also really enjoy reading from characters who are completely different from me to understand the world better, no matter the genre.

  3. What a fun tag! The 30s were such a fabulous decade, I was almost a little sad to leave them last summer when I turned 40. But I am determined to make the 40s even more so 😉

I hope your 30s continue to be wonderful!

    1. I love that outlook. It makes me excited for what’s still ahead! I hope your 40s are even more wonderful than your 30s, that sounds like such a great mindset 😊
