Hello readers! It’s time to start Down the TBR Hole again. I have done this series a few times on my blog, and I honestly love it a lot. I’m going to be doing this a bit differently in 2026.
In 2026, I am going to try to go through 10 or more books per post. Before, I tried to do 8 or fewer. I am going to start with the books I added in 2025 instead of with the oldest.
Ideally, this series is supposed to encourage your Goodreads TBR to be less and less, but I was looking at the previous series. I started the last round in April 2024 with 161 books on my Goodreads TBR and ended in July 2025 with 244! I added nearly 80 books in that time.
I thought if I did more books per post, I could really curate the list instead of it growing. And, I will start in 2025, which is clearly the time I’ve added the most books.
So, let’s start this round of Down the TBR Hole! This time, we are starting with 274 books on my Goodreads Want to Read shelf.
If you’ve never heard of Down the TBR Hole before, you go through 5 to 10 books per post on your Want to Read shelf on Goodreads and purge all the ones you know you won’t be getting to anytime soon. If you want to see a more detailed version of how this works, check out Jody’s post. She is doing her Down the TBR Hole posts on Thursdays if you want to check those out!

First, I am going to do something easy that will remove a lot of books at once, and that is going through the duplicates shelf. These are usually added when I enter giveaways.

If you don’t know, when you enter a giveaway on Goodreads, the book you are entering for is added to your Want to Read shelf, even if the book is on one of your shelves already.

After going through my shelves, I removed 9 books that had duplicates. Most of which were on my read shelf, but not all.

I do remember adding all of these when I did because there was a giveaway at the time.
I do want to read Han Kang’s books, but I don’t think I need all of these on my TBR at the same time.

I’ll be keeping The Vegetarian because it’s the one I am the most excited for and removing the rest.
I know all of her books are literary fiction, but The Vegetarian is also a horror book with a little bit of magical realism. It’s the type of book I don’t usually read, but I’ve been interested in it for a long time.

I really got into entering giveaways in 2024 and 2025, so a lot of these I don’t know what they are or are about. I usually enter romance books that have low counts of people who have entered, and kids’ books.
I’ll also be removing these books because I don’t recognize them at all. I really need to reel it in with these giveaways in 2026!
Have you guys ever won a book from a giveaway on Goodreads? I’ve been on there since 2012, and I’ve won 2 giveaways over the years.

This is one of those object romances, and I absolutely want to read it still.
It follows a romance between a woman named Vi Liu and a blob. She feeds the blob, and slowly over time, the blob forms into a man.
I love a bizarre object romance. I’ve read so many good ones, and I know this one will be just as good. The Goodreads ratings are really bad, but honestly, I don’t mind when it comes to books like this. It really is the type of book you love or hate.

Both of these books are horror novels. I was very interested in them at the time, but have since learned there is quite a bit of body horror in them.
I really can’t handle a lot of body horror, so I will be removing these. I am almost tempted to at least try Immaculate Conception, but I also don’t want to traumatize myself.
In round one of Down the TBR Hole: 2026 edition, we removed 16 books, and are now at 258. I cannot promise that future editions will all be that good.
