Hello readers! I hope everyone’s year is going well so far. It’s the second Sunday of 2026, and time for an update.
This week, I launched a new series that I’ve been working on for about a month now. My previous problematic authors post garnered a lot of attention in 2025, so I thought I should provide you with more of that type of content.
I was nervous about making a problematic authors post about Dr. Seuss, and the author I have coming up next. However, I do hope it will bring a lot of dialogue about the topic of problematic authors and elements in books.
In the world we live in, everyone wants things to be black and white, but most things are not like that. We can acknowledge problematic elements of books and still enjoy or share them.
I decided I will be doing posts on some of my favorite authors, including Stephen King and Brandon Sanderson. I believe it’s so important to discuss the harm created in books by authors that I still read, and plenty of others that I don’t.
I will be doing these posts about once a month, and I hope you guys find them thought-provoking. Let me know if you guys would like a clue for who the next author will be at the end of each post! I’d also be up to linking more places to read or watch about the authors for things I didn’t mention. For example, Dr. Seuss made a lot of propaganda comics during his time in the war. I didn’t mention them because they aren’t in his books.

Life Update|
I spent my entire break from school playing Spyro on the PS5. My boyfriend has so many video games, and it’s really reinvigorated my love of them.
I actually hadn’t really played Spyro before. I only had a demo of the game as a kid. I also played quite a bit of Ratchet and Clank, another game I’ve never played before.

This past week, we both have both been playing Skyrim together. He is playing it on Xbox 360, and I’m playing on Switch. It’s not a game we can play co-op, but we can play it at the same time.
For New Year’s Eve, we made a bunch of appetizers and ate them for dinner. I usually don’t do anything big for New Year’s, mostly because I spend it alone. Even when I was still with my husband, I would watch the ball drop by myself.
If you are interested in Halo at all, I recommend everyone go check out my boyfriend’s Halo page on Facebook! The page got a shout-out from the voice of Master Chief on New Year’s Eve.
I don’t know anything about Halo, but I am going to the convention in December for their 25th anniversary. Halo was exclusively on Xbox for most of its life, and I was a PS2 kid.
I made the Dean’s List again and the honor roll! I made the Dean’s List for the Spring and Fall in 2025, and the President’s List in the Summer of 2025. I’m hoping to get back up to the President’s List this semester.
2025 was such a great year for me, and I know 2026 will be even better. I’m hoping for a lot of adventure, and I will be sharing it with all of you throughout the year.
On the Blog Last Week|

Wednesday – Problematic Authors: Dr. Seuss
Saturday – Stacking the Shelves (Book Haul)
Upcoming This Week|
It might be a bit late, but I want to get out my favorite songs of 2025 this week. I wanted to post it during Blogmas, but I ran out of time.
📚 What I’m Reading|

In between Dr. Seuss books, I’ve been reading the sequel to Amari and the Night Brothers.
I’m really enjoying book two so far. It isn’t as good as book one, but I am still enjoying it. We are getting a bit more lore about the magicians in this one, but not as much as I’d like.
📺 What I’ve Watched|
This week, I watched two movies, the first being Ready or Not. The sequel to this movie comes out in March and I wanted to make sure to see it before then. I also started 28 Days Later to catch up on those movies, but I’m a little behind.
Ready or Not follows Grace who ends up in a deadly game of Hide and Seek on her wedding night. This movie ended in a way that I was nowhere near guessing. I really enjoyed it, and I’m excited to see the next one.
I am so happy that the film industry is really in it’s horror era. So many horror movies are coming out in 2026 that I’m super excited to see.
I mentioned to my boyfriend that I hadn’t seen this movie yet, so we watched it this week. Sinners is a vampire horror movie set in the 30’s. It follows two twin brothers, Smoke and Stack, both played by Michael B. Jordan. On the first night of their new juke joint opening, they get surrounded and attacked by vampires.
I love vampires, as you guys know, and I really enjoyed this take on the genre. It’s the kind of story that has a lot of layers. I am secretly hoping for a sequel set in another decade.
🎧 What I’m Listening To|
This past week, I was watching some videos about Disney Channel stars’ drama from the 2000s and early 2010s when I ended up listening to a lot of the old music. I loved Hannah Montana in middle and high school. Best of Both Worlds wasn’t my favorite song by her, but it’s been stuck in my head all week.
I even watched an entire history of the drama of High School Musical when I didn’t even like those movies as a kid. It was fun going back to the past and remembering the drama from that time.
Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
