My 2025 Reading Wrap-Up & Stats

Hello readers! 2025 is officially over, so it’s time to wrap up the year with some stats. 2025 was a pretty good reading year for me. I only read 30 books, but I did enjoy a lot of them. My average rating was 3.8 this year, and it was 3.6 in 2024.

I track even more stats than what I show, so let me know if there is anything else you’d like to see!

In 2025, I read 10,762 pages across 30 books. I feel good about that. My average page count was 359. One of my goals was to read bigger books, and I did do that for sure. My average in 2024 was 265, so I can’t complain there.

First up, we have format. I read a lot more print books than in previous years because I was prioritizing my owned books and the books I was buying.

I can’t lie, I will mark print even if I also combine it with an audiobook. I did have combo as an option a few years ago, but I removed it.

This year, I read a TON of middle grade. I hardly read anything outside of adult books in 2024, so this was a nice change of pace.

I also had a very large bias against YA for the past few years and went back to it in 2025. YA can be good as long as I choose wisely.

I will probably continue reading a lot of middle-grade in 2026 and also attempting to convince all of you to read it, too.

2025 was an odd year for me in the way that I read a lot of male authors. I usually read majority women.

I don’t mind it, though. This is a stat that I never try to sway one way or another, which I think I say every year.

Next up is where I aquired the books. Usually, my largest pie slice is Libby, but this year I tried to focus on owned books.

I read quite a few rereads of books I own, other books I own, I unhauled a few books that I probably won’t ever read, and also made sure to read a decent chunk of the books I was hauling.

I will hopefully continue all of this into 2026!

This one is books per month on the left and pages per month on the right. I would just like to make this a bit more consistantly in 2026. I was all over the place in 2025.

My average page count was 359 this year. I usually have a lot more books under 300, so I’m happy to see such a drastic difference.

I used to be a lover of big books, so I’m trying to get myself back into them. I think I succeded with this in 2025.

I am upset to see so many 3 star reads in 2025, so I will be trying to DNF more in 2026.

3 star reads were slightly over 1/3rd of my reading.

You guys, I thought I had finished 4 series this year, and then I later found out both of those series have more books coming out, or had one come out this year.

I finished two series and started 8. Technically it was 9, but one was a reread, so I didn’t count it.

I am happy with how many series I continued! I am making that a big focus for myself in 2026.

I changed my publishing date stats this year. I now have 1900-1990s all in one.

I do love classics, but I don’t really read them as much anymore. I will change that one day.

The majority of my reads are from the 2020s, which is usually only about half. I am sad to see how few new releases I read. But I think it was mostly because I hadn’t heard of that many.

I mentioned it in the GCA post I did last month, but I am recognizing less and less books on the Goodreads Choice Awards each year. I don’t know if it’s just me, or if it’s because the book community has become so broad in the past few years.

For genres, I read all over the place again. I was in the mood for fantasy all year, so that is my biggest portion. The urban fantasy is all Percy Jackson.

I am in the mood for more fantasy for 2026, but I’d love to get back into romance again.

I just always go through cycles of genres I am reading that most of. 2024 was scifi and 2023 was absolutely romance.

I wanted to give the final update on the diversity challenge that I set for myself in 2025. I actually succeeded in this more than I ever wanted to.

In 2024, I read nearly 70% non-diverse books. I said that I wanted it to be more like in 2023 where I had about 40% non-diverse books.

i’m looking at around 17% in 2025, which is absolutely amazing. I told you guys that I really wanted to hold myself accountable for this and I truly did. I never really liked showing this sort of stat before because I don’t want to be praised for reading diversly. But I’m going to go ahead and keep sharing this one so I can keep myself accountable and you guys can as well.

I actually have three different places on my stats where I track diversity, this is just the most basic one. I have one where I also track the specific types of LGBT, disabilities, and other things like religion, size rep, and trauma survivors. And, I have one where I track country of origin. Let me know if you guys want to see all of that!

My biggest chunk was bisexual representation for 2025. I feel like that’s just the most common lgbt rep in books.

My countries one was 80% USA in 2025, which was crazy. It’s usually not that US centered, but is always the majority.

I’m happy with how 2025 turned out. I just hope I can read a lot more in 2026, and more consistantly. I have big plans for the year with reading and outside of it as well.

I hope everyone has an amazing year!

  2. That sounds like a great year of reading.
I have a lot of 3 star reads too but for me, they are books that I enjoyed but they didn’t stand out. Quite a few of the books I get from the library are 3 star reads and that’s fine. Less than 3 is where I start to think about dnf. I’m getting better at that though😀
Hope you continue having a great reading year in 2026
