Hello readers! It’s about to be the end of 2025, so let’s talk about what I want to read in January 2026. I am feeling good about starting the new year of reading. I have my reading tracker printed and ready to go!
I am in the mood right now for romance, so I’m going to have a few of those. I’m also going to try and do the Buzzwordathon again. I don’t always do that well at it, but it’s still fun to try.

I have 5 unread contemporary romances and I couldn’t decide which one to read, so I did an online spinner wheel that chose Fake It Till You Bake It.
I bought this one from the library earlier this year. I love books centered on food, so I had to try it.
This one is a fake dating romance following a reality star and a football player who owns a bakery. These two pretend to date to boost sales at the bakery.

I’m currently rereading Amari and the Night Brothers, and I recently bought book two, so I am hoping to get to book two very soon.
Amari and the Night Brothers is a middle-grade book following a young girl who discovers a magical world after her brother goes missing. She finds out that her brother went to this magical school, and she goes there to learn more and hopefully find him.
I remember book one ending on a cliffhanger when I read it last time, and there weren’t any other books in the series at the time. Book four is coming out this winter, so I’m excited to catch up.

I read book one of Emily Wilde back in 2023, and now there are two more books. This series follows Emily, who is writing an encyclopaedia of Faeries. I also remember she works at a university, I believe it was Cambridge.
I really enjoyed that this book was both cozy and dark. There were a lot of dark moments that hit me out of nowhere, but not in a bad way. I love the faeries in here being less hot and more evil as well.
I’m excited to see where it goes with her next and the romance in the series (of course). If I really enjoy it, I might just try to finish the series. I think the three books that are out are all that will be out.

I was thinking about participating in this readathon in January called Winterween. It’s a thriller/horror themed readathon that happens for one week in winter and summer.
This winter’s theme is vampire books and one of the prompts is to read a vampire book. I might go ahead and make a seperate TBR for that, but if I do decide to do it, this will be my first book.
This prompt made me realize vampire horror books are not that easy to come by. I’ve read dracula before, but not much else. I’d like to explore the genre more down the line.

The buzzword for January 2026 is AFTER/BEFORE, so I thought Afterglow would be perfect for this. I have the audiobook of it on Audible, so I might as well get to it.
Afterglow is the 2nd book in the Monsters of Moonvale series. I’ve read book one, the prequel, and 1.5 in the series. I haven’t read Emily Antoinette in so long! I used to read her books as they were coming out and now I’m so behind.
The cover prompt for buzzwordathon in internal body parts, which can include blood. I think I’ll try to hit that prompt if I do winterween. I’m sure I can find a horror or thriller with blood on the cover at the least.
Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
