Hello readers! In today’s Blogmas post, we will be going over my 2025 reading goals and how I did on them. Giving that I didn’t read much through the year, I do think I did pretty well on them.
Don’t forget to check out the ORIGINAL post!
1: 75 books
This year, I set out to read 75 books. I didn’t read anywhere near that much, but that’s okay. I read around 30 this year. And, I found some new favorites. Quality over quantity.
I think a big part of it was the lack of reading consistantly, but I’m still happy with what I read.
2: Big Books
This was one I succeeded on BIG TIME. In 2024, my average page count was 256. I was reading a lot of shorter books even though my preference is big books. I have actually been reading shorter and shorter books over the past few years.
This year, I set out to get back into reading big books and I succeeded. My average page count was 350 this year, almost 100 higher than in 2024. I’m going to keep reading big books in the future and keeping my average page count high.
I think reading less has helped me in a way. I’m focusing less on reading more books and more on just enjoying what I’m reading. For some reason, I slowly stopped reading bigger books. And I don’t plan on going back.
5 or so years ago, if a book was under 300 pages, I wouldn’t have even touched it unless it was middle grade. I just needed a year to refresh and reset with much larger books.
3: Owned Books
I’m not gonna lie, i was chuckling a little bit when reading back this specific goal. I mean, i guess it’s a good thing to always try to aim high. But dang.
In my original post, i was talking about trying to get my physical TBR down as far as I could and I even mentioned trying to get it under 20 books. Literally, who do I think I am?
i mentioned how I had done this one year. I think this was 2018. I got my TBR under 20 books, but I didn’t start at nearly 100.
Of course I didn’t get it anywhere near 20 books on my TBR, but I am at around 80 from the 95 that I had before. I am happy with the results. I went through my books and unhauled some things I’ve had for years and just know I’d never get around to.
I also bought a few books this year, but overall I did well.
4: Diversity
26% of the books I read in 2024 were diverse in some capacity. I was actually shocked by this and aimed to fix it. I have maintained 20% non-diverse books all year, crushing this goal.

None of the goals I had were as important as this one. I need to be reading diversely or not at all. I absolutely fixed it this year and it wasn’t even that difficult. 2024 was just a weird year in general.
Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
