Hello readers! We are nearing the end of the year and so I thought I’d talk about the Christmas books I want to get to this year, and some movies as a bonus.
I have a pretty broad group of books. Some romance, classics, and even a cozy mystery. For the movies (and, one TV show), these are ones I have never seen before. These are hard to come by! I love Christmas and Christmas movies, so I’ve seen a lot of them.
I also feel like most Christmas movies are romance and I honestly find romance movies to be so cringey. I can read a romance book, but the movies are not my favorite.I have seen quite a few still, but they aren’t something I want to prioritize.
Check out my post about my favorite Christmas movies!

The Pumpkin Spice Cafe series has both autumnal and Christmas center books in the series. I’ve never seen such a popular cozy mystery series. It seems people are reading this who don’t typically even read cozies.
I haven’t read many series that are cozy mysteries, so this will be the first that follows a different person in each book AND centers romance. Of course, there is always romance in theses books, but it’s far from the center of the story.
I am worried that the ratings are really bad, but I’m going to at least try a few and see how I feel. I don’t know what it is, but it takes me 3 or 4 books of a cozy to really know if I like it or not.

How My Neighbor Stole Christmas was published last year and I didn’t get a chance to read it because Libby didn’t have it. Libby still doesn’t have it, so I’ll have to buy it this year. AND there is now a sequel.
I just love the idea of a book inspired by the Grinch. I am hoping it’ll be the grumpy sunshine. I know there is fake dating, but I’m not sure what else.

Earlier this year, I went to Ohio and visited the real-life Christmas Story house. This is something I’ve been hoping to do for nearly a decade of my life and I finally got the chance.
When I was there, I learned In God We Trust was the book that inspired the story. It is a true story, but I also think the author added in a lot that isn’t true as well.
I got myself a copy of the book and decided I would get to it this Christmas season.
I highly recommend touring the house if you get the chance and you are a lover of Christmas. He told us that you can also stay in the house and the also the house next door, too.

Juniper’s Christmas take place in a world where Santa hasn’t delivered presents in 10 years. It follows Juniper who goes on a search to find her mom after she has gone missing.
This is by the same author as Artemis Fowl, which I know I read one of the books when I was a kid.
I also read online this is being developed into a movie, so I can’t wait to see that when it comes out.

My daughter and I are going to be reading through this entire series over the next few months starting this next week. I have read books 1-4 myself before, but this is my opportunity to finish the whole series.
We will also be watching the movies as we go.
My daughter is now doing online/homeschool. So, I am picking some series to read together, specifically those that have adaptations.
I learned recently that this series was highly inspired by the Bible. I wasn’t going to mention that a lot while reading it with her, but I honestly am finding it so fascinating.
We are not really religious, but we have been to church a few times and my daughter has done VBS. I am going to try to teach a bit about the inspiration without going to deep. I find the idea of teaching your kid about eternal damnation to be a bit heavy.

My December Darling is Lauren Asher’s Christmas book. I really love her Dreamland Billionares trilogy. I tried the Lakefront Billionare series this year and didn’t love it, but I’m hoping that one was a fluke.
Unlike the other books I’ve read by Asher, this one is very short. I LOVE this cover. This one follows the sister of a bride (and ex of the groom) who is the maid of honor and the best man.
It happens to be grumpy sunshine, which is my absolute favorite romance trope. I really hope to love this one.

Nutcracker and the Mouse King is a very short Christmas classic that I’ve never read, so I think I should give it a try this year.
I’ve read a retelling of this one, and of course I’ve seen the Barbie version, but never the original. I even used to have a Ken Nutcracker doll all the way back in 2001.

I have seen so many Christmas movies over the year, but I have never watched either version of Miracle on 34th St. I’m still not sure which one I should watch. Maybe both?
It follows a man named Kris Kringle who people eventually assume is really Santa Claus because he is so well loved. This leads to him being sued for being a fraud and to determine if he is mentally ill.
This sounds insane! I’m excited to try it. Let me know if you’ve seen both and which one I should try, or if I should go for both.

Klaus follows a young postman named Jesper who intentionally does very poorly in his job so he can go back home. His family is very wealthy and he doesn’t want to have to work for any of their money.
His father sends him to the north where he meets Klaus. He has to establish a post office that must deliver 6,000 letters in one year of he’ll be cut off from the family’s money. Jesper then collaborates with Klaus to deliver toys.
I have been meaning to watch this movie for a long time now, but just haven’t gotten around to it. To be honest, I was so stressed in 2024 that Christmas wasn’t a fun holiday for me. I know it’ll be much different this year and I’m excited to immerse myself in the holiday.

The Santa Clauses is a spin-off TV show of The Santa Clause movies. The first movie in the original trilogy came out the year I was born. I will probably be rewatching all of them and then trying out this show.
The Santa Clause follows a man who accidently kills Santa on Christmas Eve, and then becomes him.
This show takes place 30 years later when he is finally planning to retire and is trying to pick a successor.
I’m excited to revisit the movies and see if the show is worth watching!
A Charlie Brown Christmas is a classic and I’ve also never seen it before. I have really only ever read Peanuts in the newspaper when I was a kid. I’ve never watched any of the movies. I know the basic idea of all of the movies, but I would still love to see it myself just once.
This might be one that I buy on DVD. I used to buy a Christmas movie every single year on DVD. I no longer have a way to watch DVDs and I wasn’t really allowed to buy them for the past few years. Last year, I did have a bit of my own money, but it wasn’t enough to buy myself something like this.
Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
