Hello readers! Let’s talk about music. I did this post for Blogmas where I talked about my favorite songs of the year, and I decided to go ahead and do it again.
Let me know if I should make more like this! I can go over my favorite song of each group. I have nearly 300 songs in my playlist on Spotify
What is your favorite song this year?
Last time, I only included songs that were released in 2024, but I have at least one I discovered this year that is an older release. I’ve also been including songs into my Sunday Posts, so be sure to check them out each week!
The only thing that ever kept me from Seventeen was the number of members in the group. Something just made me want to try more of their music in June and now I am becoming a fan.
One thing I really like about them is that I really care for afrobeats, but they incorporate them so well.
THE8’s solo Orbit came out this past December and I have become addicted to it this past month. I love that his solo is in his native language being Mandarin. It isn’t often that foreign idols get a chance to celebrate their own culture or language.
WayV is a group that I only listen to casually, so I missed this song back in December. WayV is a Cpop group and are a subunit of a Kpop group named NCT.
This one has is very reminiscent of 90’s hip hop in sound and I really love when groups take on that sound.
CYE was formed from a survival show called Project 7. I watched all the episodes and voted each week last year and was super excited for their debut.
Their song 내 안의 모든 시와 소설은 or All My Poetry did not disappoint. It released back in April and is currently my 4th most listened to song on Spotify. I listen to it almost every day.
I was worried for this group having such a large age gap that the younger members might end up in a concept that doesn’t fit them, but it seems fine so far. I hope the company keeps that up for them.
On Enhypen’s newest album was a B side called Outside. As soon as I heard who had produced this song, I knew I would like it upon release.
One of the producers, Slush Puppy, also produces for an American artists I really love, Snow Wife.
Outside is my favorite song on the album, but Bad Desire is also really good. Bad Desire sort of sounds like Mirrors by Justin Timberlake mixed with Justin Beiber’s As Long As You Love Me.
Both the English and Korea versions are really good and I’ve been listening to both. It’s very rare that a song sounds good in two different languages.
&Team’s newest releases Run Wild has been on repeat for me lately. They are a Jpop group, but have Korean versions of their songs.
I usually always listen to them in Japanaes, but the Korean version of Run Wild is really good.
It has a sound I don’t typically like, but I am addicted to it. It’s sort of like a disco sounding song. It’s super catchy and I am listening to it even more than the title track.
Wonho was just discharged from the military last September and is finally back with new music. I honetly catch myself sining this song all the time.
I have been into Kpop since before Wonho left Monsta X, and I am really happy to see him thriving now that he is solo.
The last one I’ll add is Boy Next Door’s 오늘만 I LOVE YOU or If I Say I Love You caught my attention in January. It’s a much softer song than I usually listen to, but it’s so catchy.
Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨
