The Sunday Post 63: No King’s Day Protest

The Sunday Post

Hello readers! It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time to talk about what I’ve been up to. How has everyone’s summer been going? I got a sunburn for the first time this summer when the sun wasn’t even out. I feel like a vampire sometimes with how easily I burn.

This week I went to my very first protest. The No Kings protest. I honestly was very scared to do this because I live in a red state. I wasn’t afraid of police attacking us, but Trump supporters.

Loyalty to the constitution not the president

I got there with my sign and had a pretty good time. There was a few Trump supporters shouting at us, flipping us off, and two counter protesters. The scariest thing was when people would speed past us. My biggest fear was someone driving into the crowd, but all went well.

I was shocked by the turnout. There were 750 people, which doesn’t seem like much. But it is where I am from. I am a leftist, so I know very well that most people around me do not share my views.

There were a lot of people there of many different age groups, which I did not expect at all.

My views were inspired by people like Bernie Sanders and John Lewis when I was young.

I’ve never felt safe in my community based on my political opinions. People on the right are very aggresive and will never hesitate to let their disdain with your thoughts be known.

This is what being an American is all about. It’s about standing united together when we see injustice in the country.

I’m still slowly making my way through Dreamcatcher. I haven’t made a lot of time for reading this week.

I am two episodes away from finishing my rewatch of Alice in Borderland.

Instead of reading or watching anything, I’ve been binging Seventeen’s music. The8 is a Chinese member of Seventeen and I LOVE this solo mandarin song he came out with in December.

Another new favorite is Spell. The song is good, but also this choreography is really beautiful.

Happy blogging and bookish adventures! 📚🦒✨

  2. As a non-American I really have to look this up, because I have no idea what this no Kings protest is all about. And I happen to see it everywhere this morning, so my curiosity is triggered. But glad you had a good and safe first experience at a protest!
