Hello readers! It’s time for another book tag. I am not feeling confident about this one because I haven’t read much this year. But I still want to do this tag! CLICK HERE to see my answers from 2024.
I mean, I am behind in a lot of ways already this year, but it’s okay. I know I’ll catch up later in the year. I always read the most in the summer months.
The Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag was created by Roisin’s Reading on Booktube.
How many books have you read so far?
In 2025, I have read 12 books across 4,260 pages. I almost finished a 13th book, but didn’t get it done by the end of March.
I am surprised looking back on 2024 and I had actually read more books that I have at this point in 2025.
Have you already found a book you think might be a 2025 favorite?

I would say this series in general, but book two is honestly my favorite in the series so far.
This series follows a young girl who is cursed to die on her 11th birthday and is instead whisked away to a magical town called Nevermoor. Because of her curse, she is constantly discriminated against and faces a lot of challenges.
In book two, she is going to a magical school. I loved both books, but this one was just a little bit better.
If not, what was your favorite book you read that wasn’t quite a five star?

I think my favorite 4 star read was The Luis Ortega Survival Club. This one follows an autistic girl who struggles with mutism. She has a sexual encounter with her boyfriend which she later realizes wasn’t full consensual. Later on, she meets an entire group of people who have been victimized by him in different ways and they form an alliance to enact revenge on him.
I really enjoyed this book. It shows how little men are held accountable for their actions and how vilified women are in society. The only thing that dropped it a star for me was the mom who treated the MC like her personal therapist and never took any accountability for how terrible she treated everyone around her.
Any 1 star books / least favorite book of the year?

My lowest rated book was Love Redesigned at 2 stars. This was disappointing in so many ways. And it was also so surprising because I loved the Dreamland Billionares series by her.
The romance felt so rushed, the reason they hated each other didn’t make sense, the verbage in the spicy scenes was so weird and awkward, and overall I didn’t really enjoy the characters. I will be reading book two at some point, but I’ll quit the series if I don’t like that one. I am hoping this one is just a fluke because I liked the 3 other books I’ve read by Lauren Asher.
Most read genre so far?

Right now my most read genres are literary fiction and fantasy.
I have been reading diversely as far as genres go, but that is pretty normal for me. I just can’t stick to one thing for too long or I’ll get slumpy.
Book that’s come out in 2025 already that you want to read but haven’t ?

This book seems very bizarre, but I’d still love to read it. I know it follows a girl who somehow turns a blob into a boyfriend. Sure, the ratings are terrible. But they always are on books like this one.
It seems like the kind of weird that I really enjoy and I can’t wait to get around to reading it.
One goal you made that you’re succeeding at.

I was going to do an update on my reading goals now that we are a quarter into the year, but honestly I’m not doing great on most of them.
One I am doing well on is reading diversely! I told you guys in my Reading Goals post that only 26% of the books I read in 2024 had some sort of diversity in it, and I now have only 20% without any diversity.
I’ve been working really hard on this one and it is working. It was so disappointing to see my numbers in 2024 and I hope they never drop that low again.
