Alli the Book Giraffe

Hello readers! I noticed on Sunday when I was sharing the books I acquired this past week that I didn’t tell you about the other books I got this last month, so let’s do a book haul!

When you are seeing this, I am on my way to Cleveland, Ohio. I’m so excited to FINALLY be seeing the Christmas Story house. It’s been such a long time that I’ve wanted to do this.

In 2025, I bought 7 books, so let’s talk about them! And this doesn’t include all the ones I got for my daughter.

I actually had Beautiful Villain in 2024 as an ARC and I never got around to read it. So, I saw it in the book store and bought myself a copy. Book two also came out last month, so I went ahead and grabbed it, too.

Beautiful Villain is a paranormal romance retelling of Great Gatsby, and the sequel is a retelling of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

I’m excited to get to both of these in 2025. And book three called Ruthless Devotion comes out in July.

Lord of the Fly Fest is a retelling of Lord of the Flies, if the characters were rich and gen z. It follows a group of people stuck on an island where a music festival was supposed to take place, but was cancelled.

I really loved this book and I happened to find it on sale, so I bought myself a copy.

I mentioned this one in my Sunday Post, but in case you missed it, I bought a box set of the Kane Chronicles.

This trilogy is connected to Percy Jackson in some way. I know it follows Egyptian mythology and are in the same universe as Percy Jackson, but I don’t think there is any character overlap.

I’m excited to try this one and see if I enjoy it as much as the previous series.

This is the only book in the haul that is not a retelling in any way. Gwendy’s Magic Feather is the sequel to Gwendy’s Button Box. This is a trilogy co-written by Stephen King, or at least the first book is.

Book one is a horror book following a young girl named Gwendy who is given a sort of magical box by a mysterious man. This box gives her money, and chocolates, and has mysterious buttons that she doesn’t know what they do.
