February Wrap Up 2025

Hello readers! It’s finally March, and that means it’s time to talk about what I read in February. I only read 4 books this month. I started out the month with a book I didn’t really like, and that just made it hard for me to read for the rest of the month.

I have a LOT of thoughts about the books I read this month. So, let’s jump right on into it.

The first book I read this month was Love Redesigned. I was really looking forward to this one because I loved the Dreamland Billionares series, but I just did not vibe with this one at all.

I’ve come to realize over time that I don’t really like 2nd chance romances. And this one is that. I always feel like the reasoning for them breaking apart before never really makes sense. It feels like the miscommunication trope for me.

However, I don’t think it was just that trope that made me not enjoy it. Final Offer had that trope and I enjoyed it. The rivals to lovers in this one just flipped too quickly. It sounds silly because this book is over 500 pages, but the romance felt rushed.

The spicy scenes also threw me off. Like, the language used in them felt so out of character for these characters.

I will be continuing the series, though. I do think it could just be this book because I’ve read 3 other books by this author that I did like. If I don’t like book two, then I’ll know to quit.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was one I was really excited to get to, but I really have mixed feelings about it. I loved some things and really didn’t like others.

This book is about prisoners fighting Gladiator style. It’s a televised thing. People have favorites and can sponsor or donate to them. That part was really interesting. When we get to see the fights, it’s really gory, sometimes a little too gory, but I won’t complain about that.

What I didn’t like was the random facts sprinkled throughout. I assume the stats were real, which felt out of place. This is a dystopian book and we are getting factual stats about things like, black men being more likely to get harsher sentences white men for the same crimes. But, it doesn’t fit the genre we are in. It also felt like the author wanted to tell me what to think instead of just letting me infer things through the characters in the story.

It has a lot to say about glorification of death and even human rights, but I wish it were just told in a better way. The idea was there, but the way it was told was just off for me. I’d love to read something else by him in the future.

This one was sort of bittersweet for me. I really enjoyed it, which was unexpected. I haven’t loved a book in this series since book 6. We got the backstory of Nadya, which I really did want to see. But, I am just sad to see the series go.

If the author ever decides to write something else in this world, I will absolutely read it. There really are infinite possibilities with the series.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I feel the same way about the 3rd Percy Jackson book as I did the last time I read it. It felt a lot like a filler book for me. This one was just okay. No real feelings about it one way or the other.

I will be continuing the reread of the series, of course. And, I hope I enjoy the next one more than this.
