Hello readers! It’s time for a Top Ten Tuesday post. I love this topic because I didn’t get around to any new releases in 2024. I did get a few done in November and December, but there are so many I didn’t get to.
Here are 10 new releases from 2024 that I wish I could’ve gotten to and hope to get to in 2025.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010 and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, you pick your top 10 of the topic provided.
February 4: 2024 Releases I Was Excited to Read but Still Haven’t Gotten To

A Love Song For Ricki Wilde was one I was really excited for in 2024 and didn’t get around to.
I know it’s historical fiction mixed with magical realism and romance. I know it follows a woman who falls for a musician. I don’t know a ton about it, but I’ve wanted to read it since I heard of it. Plus I was trying to read more black author, new release romances to help get them on the Goodreads Choice Awards in 2024.
It did end up on the list! Which is what really matters.

What Feasts at Night is the sequel to What Moves the Dead. What Moves the Dead is a retelling of Edgar Allan Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher. And it’s amazing. It isn’t very long, but it doesn’t feel too short.
It’s also is a zombie-esque story. And it has some body horror, which I usually do not like, but honestly it wasn’t too much for me.
I really hope to get to this sequel in 2025 because I really loved the 1st book.

Floating Hotel is a scifi book about a hotel on a space ship. It also is a mystery book where many of the guests have some sort of secrets.
I’ve really gotten into scifi in the past few years and I really think I’d like this. I think it may be like that episode of Doctor Who where they are on that ship that is meant to be the Titanic. I don’t know why, but I think it’ll be sort of like that and I hope it is.

Horror Movie is a horror book by an author who I’ve tried before and didn’t really like. But, I’d be willing to try again.
I read The Cabin at the End of the World by him, and I didn’t really enjoy the ending.
It takes place in the 90s. In the past, some people filmed a movie that became a horror cult classic. The problem is that bad things or some sort of bad event happened to the cast, and we are following the only living cast members years later.

This book and the next one are both books I was excited for in 2024, but never mentioned because of the St. Martin’s Press boycott.
I’ve read all three of Casey McQuiston’s previous books. I loved one and didn’t really like the other two. So, this one is going to determine if I like their books or not.
I know it follows two people who used to date who end up on the same vacation together. 2nd chance romance is also not my favorite. I am worried I am not going to like this, but I really hope I do!

Canto Contigo is a YA romance about two boys who want to be the main singer in their school’s mariachi band. This sounds like nothing I have ever read, and that is why I was so excited from the moment I heard of it.
I am not a big YA person as much anymore, but I really think I’m going to love this one.
According to the reviews, there is also quite a bit of Spanish in this book, which I would love to see. I do know a lot of Spanish, so it could be a test of how much I do or don’t know.

Stephen Graham-Jones is an author I have almost read so many times, but still haven’t. This is his latest horror release, which is a slasher book.
I’ve read so many slashers at this point and have only liked one so far, so I hope this can be a good one, too.
In this one, the main character is the killer, from what I can see on reviews of it on Goodreads. That is something I haven’t read yet, so I hope it can be a new twist on the genre.

Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands is the sequel to Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries. I actually got an ARC of this book back in 2023, so I really have no excuse for this one.
I really enjoyed book one, I just haven’t been in the mood for this one just yet. I’ll get around to it at some point this year as I also want to get through some of my NetGalley backlist.

We Used to Live Here is a thriller novel that I’ve heard so many good things about. It follows a couple who move into their new house and the previous residents start showing up and acting weird in some way.
So many people are saying it’s really good, it has good twists, and it’s very creepy. I really am looking for the creepiness in a thriller since I read Incidents Around the House. I didn’t like that book, but one thing I did like was the creepy factor.

Loud is a non-fiction book about TikToker Drew Afualo. I freaking love her so much. She really is a feminist icon and I love to see her humbling men on a regular basis.
I think I’ll read this one in March for the Buzzwordathon. The word in March is ‘thing’, and this one has nothing in the subtitle, so I think it counts.
