Hello readers! It’s time for a book tag. I love fantasy books, so I couldn’t resist doing the Fantasy Book Tag!
I cannot for the life if me figure out who created this tag, but other people who have done it said it came from BookTube. I have found other fantasy book tags on there, but not this specific one.
If you know, please let me know and I’ll credit them!
Don’t forget to check out my Book Tag Master List for all the book tags I’ve done in the past!
What is the longest fantasy series that you’ve ever read?

Does paranormal count as fantasy? I think it does. Honestly, most of what I’ve read in the fantasy genre is vampire books.
I’ve read the House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast, which is 12 books, plus some novellas, and another series that follows it.
Including novellas and the continuation series, I’ve read 15 of the books associated with this series, and there are over 20.
This is a YA series that takes place at a vampire boarding school. I started this series as a teen and have casually read it as an adult. I’ll eventually get around to finishing it one day.
Favorite fantastical setting or world.

Honestly, my favorite fantasy world is the one from Warbreaker. This is my favorite Sanderson book and the magic system centers colors. It’s such an interesting one and I hope we will eventually get a sequel to it. But, I know Sanderson has so many series and worlds going right now, so I’m not holding my breath on it.
Seriously, this book was published in 2009 and was one of his first ones. So, it’s been a LONG wait already. I was in 9th grade in 2009.
There is also a talking sword and atheistic gods. It’s such a good book and also so underrated when it comes to Sanderson’s work.
Besides Harry Potter, what is your favorite fantasy book/series?

Wicked Darlings is one of those series that you’ll either going to love or hate. The Wicked Darlings series is a dark fantasy romance series that takes place in this fae world. The first one follows two human sisters who are trying to help The Nutcracker from turning back into a wooden doll.
The fae realm was so interesting. It was so colorful and vibrant, like in a kids book, but very violent and dangerous at the same time. It’s spicy, action packed, and very unhinged.
I loved all the contrast along with the characters. This author always keeps things interesting and I can’t help but read everything she has ever read.
What fantasy book do you wish was more popular?

I would say Nevermoor or literally anything that is middle grade. Some of the best books I’ve ever read are middle grade. It’s such an underrated age group.
These types of series are always so fun and whimsical, but they can also explore heavy topics. Morrigan is hated her entire life because she is cursed, she is treated like an inconvenience in everyone’s life, and gets this found family that she deserves.
It’s definitely a favorite series that I’ve read in 2025.
Your favorite villain

I would say the Vampaneze Lord in the Cirque Du Freak series. This is also a paranormal one. It follows a young vampire boy named Darren (same name as the author).
Without going into who the Vampaneze Lord is or anything like that, I really feel like his motives are realistic and this character is developed over the course of the whole series, which takes place over many decades.
What’s the first fantasy book you have ever read?

I honestly don’t know for sure, but I know one of the firsts was Captain Underpants.
I love that gen alpha are into this author, too! He also writes the Dogman series, which is probably the biggest book series of their generation. They even have that series and Captain Underpants in color, which I would’ve loved as a kid.
Anyhow, this one follows these two kids and their teacher who also is a superhero called Captain Underpants. I remember there being these flip-o-rama pages that we could flip back and forth to make it look like he was punching a bad guy, which was really cool for that time.
What is your favorite mythical creature?
My favorite is and has always been vampires. Let me know your favorite vampire book! I like other creatures, but mostly it will be because of their personality and not their species. I like the mythical creatures that are quirky and a little funny or sassy.
Favorite female protagonist from a fantasy book?

I am stuck on vampire books, I know. But I love them so much. My favorite FMC has to be Cat from the Night Huntress series. She is a badass woman who can take care of herself. She is only half-vampire, but she can take down even the most powerful vampires.
I love a romance book when a woman has a man, but doesn’t need him. She can take care of herself and I feel like we don’t see that enough in romance books, or vampire ones.
Favorite male protagonist?

I would say Kaladin in The Way of Kings. He is the type of character who is done so wrong before the book starts and is trying to just deal with the life he is now forced to live and I was just hoping the whole time that he is freed, because he is literally a slave.
This character genuinely cares about others and wants to help them more than he wants to help himself. I loved reading his character in Way of Kings and eventually I’ll get around the continuing this series.
