Giant February 2025 TBR + Everbloom Academy Readathon

Hello readers! It’s time to talk about what I’m reading this month and this post is going to be LONG. I want to share my TBR with you from my Wheel of TBR and then I’ll tell you about this readathon I want to do.

If you’d like to watch my Wheel of TBR, check it out either on TikTok or YouTube. I did really well again this month with adding books I actually own. So far, this TBR game has gone so well.

Retelling

The first prompt we got was retelling, so I had to add the next Percy Jackson book. This is the 3rd book in the Percy Jackson series.

I just found out this month that Rick Riordan actually wrote 2 new books in this series. Did anyone know that? I didn’t. It’s been a 5 book series since 2009, and then he added two new books in 2023 and 2024.

This is literally my biggest pet peeve in publishing. I HATE when authors write new books in series that I’ve finished years after I finished it. BUT, I am still going to keep reading and trying to read every book in the whole universe.

Owned

Another book I really wanted to reread in 2025 is Amari and the Night Brothers. Why not read it during the readathon that is partially inspired by that series?

This one centers a girl whose brother has gone missing. She attempts to investigate and finds a ticking suitcase in his bedroom that invites her to the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs.

This was such a good book and I need to continue the series this year!

Mystery/Thriller/Horror

For this one, I decided to go with one of the HP Lovecraft books I got for Christmas. I searched on Google and people said this is the best place to start with his work.

There are 10 short stories of his in this book and I’m excited to try it! I love movies inspired by his style of horror, so it should be cool to see the original.

Romance

For romance, I added a book that I bought this time last year being Love Redesigned. It’s the first book in a new Lauren Asher series that follows the Dreamland Billionaires trilogy.

Dreamland Billionaires is my favorite series I’ve read because of Booktok. I feel like I dislike most of what they love over there, but I loved this one.

Love Redesigned takes place at the same lakeside town as Final Offer and I’m really excited to jump into it.

25 in 2025

I took a look at my 25 in 2025 list and decided on Chain Gang All Stars. This is the one I am most excited to read off the list.

This is a dystopian book where prisoners have to fight to the death Gladiator style.

I am so excited to try this and to knock a book off that list. I’ve already read one book on the list and DNF’d another, so this will be my 3rd one.

TBR Jar

For my TBR Jar this month, I pulled out Icebreaker. I received Icebreaker for Christmas in 2023, so it’s been on the TBR for a LONG time.

I am excited for this one, but also nervous. It just seems like the type of book that everyone either loves or hates. It follows two people in college, is enemies to lovers, and also spicy. That is all I really know about it.

Does anyone know what all the hype is around these hockey romances? I feel like people are obsessed with them and I really haven’t read any yet.

The Everbloom Academy Readathon is sort of like the Magical Readathon. The one on YouTube that used to be Harry Potter themed. This one is middle grade themed, but you don’t have to read middle grade books for it. I LOVED that most of it is inspired by Amari and the Night Brother and Nevermoor. Both series are phenomenal.

I didn’t do semester one, so I have to start there. If you’re interested in participating, here is Everbloom Academy Readathon semester one and semester two videos.

So, I’m going to tell you a TBR for semester one AND two, and I’m going to attempt to do as much as I can. There will be another readathon in two months to make up what I don’t get to, so I should be fine if I can’t get to all of it.

Lastly, each book can be used for up to 3 prompts. There are 5 basic classes, one for the department for sem 1 and 2 for sem 2, and then 1 required elective.

Semester One:

Arcane Ethics: A book that teaches you a lesson OR a book ft good vs evil

Magibotony: A book with plants featured

For this one, I am going with Titan’s Curse. I honestly feel like most books teach a lesson of some sort, and this book does have a looming evil that is slowly showing throughout the entire series.

For the 2nd prompt, this series does include plant related magic, so I think that counts.

Geography of Everbloom Academy: Book with a map OR travel words

Love Redesigned has a map of the little town that the book takes place in, being Lake Wisteria.

I feel like it should be more common for non-fantasy books to have maps in them! I love seeing things like this.

History of Magic: Book featuring Magic

For this one I am going with a new series called Never After. I’ve read the Descendents series by this author and I’d love to read more. Actually, the author added a new book onto the Descendents series, so I need to finish it again.

Anyhow, I know this is a retelling of a bunch of different fairy tales mixed together, and I’m excited to try it!

Ancient Languages: Translated book OR book with 5 words or more in title

Amari and the Night Brothers is exactly 5 words, so it’s perfect for this prompt. We are getting back into this series this month and hopefully continuing later in the year.

Stealth, Evasion and Concealment: Dark Academia OR books with word like secret or cheat OR book with secret society

There were 3 departments to choose from and I went with the Department of Half Truths and Full Cover Ups. I am also going with Amari and the Night Brothers for this one as there is a secret society in the series.

Unicorn and Dragon Riding: book featuring a dragon or unicorn

From the way she was speaking, it’s best to do as many of these as possible, so I am picking two electives. For this one, I am going with The Thirteenth Fairy by Melissa De La Cruz for this one as well.

Study of basic elements: read a book featuring either water, fire, earth or air

I am also adding in Titan’s Curse for this one because there is elemental magic in it.

Semester 2:

Arcane Ethics 201: A book with significant character growth

Magibotony 201: A book with earthy “tones” on the cover for example: green, brown, orange, yellow.

Character growth is another thing that is in most books, especially dystopian ones, so putting this one here is a complete guess.

For the 2nd prompt, it’s about color of cover and this one has all the colors listed except green.

Geography of Everbloom 201: A book set in a country other than yours OR from an author from a different country

This was perfect because I needed to fit Black Water Sister in here for the Buzzwordathon prompt of water words. Zen Cho was born in Malaysia and lives in England, and the book takes place in Malaysia as well.

I’ve had this on my Want to Read shelf WAAY too long and I need to finally get to it in February.

History of Magic 201: Read a book featuring one or more of these five most popular types of magic: Elemental, Divine, Psychic, Enchantment, and Transmutation

For this one, I am going to go with the group book. There is magic of some sort in this book. It’s the first book in a middle grade series and I actually have never heard of it before, so I’m excited to check it out.

Advertisements

Ancient Languages 201: The study of forgotten tongues: read an under-hyped book (for example less than 1000 reviews on Goodreads), or a book published before 2020.

For this one, I am going with the 2nd book on the Vanderbeeker series. It has more than 1k reviews, but was published before 2020.

I also want to use this one for the buzzcover prompt for Buzzwordathon. The cover prompt is a skyline and this one will be perfect. This cover is so beautiful!

1. Forbidden Lore: This class explores grimoires with forbidden magic. Read a book on a banned books list.

For this one, I am choosing book 4 in the Percy Jackson series. This series has been banned in some schools for religious reasons. I really don’t get that at all. I personally am a Hellenic Pagan and I don’t know why seeing non-Christian gods would be offensive? This ban feels weird in so many ways.

2. Memory Alteration: This class explores how to alter someone’s memory: A book you were excited to read but forgot about/never got too.

For this one, I am going with Black Water Sister again. It has been on my Want to Read shelf since 2021 and I’ve almost read it so many times, but never get to it. It’s time to finally read it!

Fortune Telling 102: In your first Fortune Telling class, you are to focus on predicting small fortunes. Read a 5 star prediction.

For now, I am only going to try for one elective in this semester and I’m going to do Chain Gang All Stars for this one as well.
